Hi,

why is Secunia PSI 3 latest version behaving like this? Don't like this constant activity since it will wear down my hard drive.

Best regards
Fredrik

Secunia are unlikely to respond. Where do you see that log activity you have posted?

Hi, I used a disk activity indicator for Another reason:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/activityindicat/

It from that I found out that Secunia is behaving like this.

Do you have any ideas? This can't be good on a hard drive in the long run.

I will download it onto my test PC to try and understand the problem. Will report back. It could take a while.

EDIT

Having downloaded the programme I cannot see the PSI activity you describe.

a. Can you confirm that you are using PSI 3.0.0.9016

b. This activity takes place when PSI is closed to the Task Tray.

c. Which PSI settings are activated

YES

b. This activity takes place when PSI is closed to the Task Tray.
YES

c. Which PSI settings are activated
Standard settings at installation, tried without automatic updates, no change.

Using Windows 8.1, can give you a teamviewer session to my machine if you would lika to see for yourself?

It is the secunia psi agent (32-bit) that is causing the disk activity.

Thank you. I do not use Team Viewer. I cannot reproduce what you describe using Windows 7 32 Bit.

I will try using my Windows 8.1.1 test PC to see what happens there.

EDIT

Sadly fallen at the first hurdle with Windows 8. Activity Indicator is a very old programme last updated in 2010 - to function it wants me to upload versions of .NET Framework that I do not want on my Windows 8.

If no-one else can help I suggest you contact support using this as a guideline:
