Since being advised to use PSI some years ago, I have seen the magic that PSI can so - something that I would never be able to do on my own. And I have worked hard to achieve those GREEN bars and icon, especially the icon as it alerted me to a problem.

But something has changed at Secunia; is it the culture? is it the bean-counters? Are they too busy resolving CSI problems?

Whatever the cause(s), we are now reaping their whirlwind.
If you have XP, tough - it's End of Life and you can't create an 'Ignore' rule because PSI won't show a path.
If you have MSXML v4.30.2117.0, tough - no-one at Secunia will challenge / respond to Maurice Joyce and seem content to ley him do all their work.

Words fail me. C'mon Secunia, get your finger out and show us that you're listening, and that you care.

PS The MSMXL debacle affects everyone, not just XP users or course.

Hahaha I'm pretty sure that HP Officejet users will be very happy with the discontinuing of MSXML4 support. Especially when they try to perform a scan. This is of course only a problem when they remove msxml4.ddl .(all versions)

Hi ErikM. I hope you don't mind but I've posted a copy of your interesting (& amusing!) post on the main thread here:

http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/150...

You might want to join in that lively debate!

Very misleading unless fully supported by evidence.

I run two HP OfficeJet Printers.

OfficeJet Pro 8610e

OfficeJet 6500A Plus which also uses Air print so that I can hook up with my Apple IPhone/IPad that do not have MSXML at all.

None of these printers require MSXML4.

What printer are we talking about? Is it supported by HP? Is it the printer drivers or the PUP that accompany most printers on a disk that is reliant on MSXML 4?

Looks like another "Red Herring" until substantiated.

I think you need to reread your post above. It CLEARLY implies that if any user has an HP OfficeJet Printer it requires MSXML 4 & there may be issues with functionality.

You certainly fooled the originator of this thread who decided to post it elsewhere under the header Do you have HP OfficeJet?

That is indeed misleading. New HP OfficeJet printers work perfectly without MSXML 4.

As it stands your two posts are only of value to those who use HP Officejet J6410.

I will unsubscribe to protect my mail box.

Having been diverted by Erik M, may I again ask if all of you XP users have accepted that Secunia will be doing nothing to sort of their EoL problem with XP?

The word "accepted" isn't the one I would choose to describe my feelings concerning Secunia's stance re: XP EOL; "resigned" seems more fit to purpose.

@taffy078

Maybe another "Red Herring" but it looks like Secunia have thrust their begging bowl to Google. I wonder why?

When you try to download using some links you get attacked by a pop up. All very professional!!!

https://1ncuig.bn1.livefilestore.com/y2p5PBmrBVt9K...

Look at the eyes of the pop up logo operator - it's a Secunia Support Representative checking his next pay packet which is performance related .... Have a nice day!

lol - or perhaps he's just got around to reading this and the MSXML threads and has just realised their c*ck-up.

By the way, that Heimdal is brilliant . . and so fast. I've got the free version so presume that's why I didn't find any route to creating a ticket.

Pleased you like Heimdal. You may not require the extras offered in the Pro version - I am still cross checking this programme with:

Malwarebytes Anti Malware Pro

Malwarebytes Anti Exploit Pro

Cryptolocker Premium

Norton Internet Security 2014.

There are no clashes but MAJOR overkill so there are going to be some losers in that I will not renew the licences on some.

The support page is here which is open to all:

https://heimdalsecurity.com/en/support

I assume you have found that if you click the "Smiley Face" you get a lightening fast rescan?

thanks for the Heimdal link, Maurice.

Yes I did click on the smiley face, turned to sup from a nearby cup of tea, turned back and nothing had happened - or so it seemed.

Did it again just now - wow, that's amazingly fast!
