I've downloaded the patch for FF 3.07, and installed it, but when I rerun the scan, it says it's still running 3.06. I used Revo Uninstaller to do a complete uninstall, downloaded FF 3.07, reran the scan, but it still says it's still unpatched and running 3.06. I checked the Add/Remove Programs, and it shows I have 3.07 installed, and I still can't get it cleared from the insecure list. What do I do now?

U need to check where the file is.
To locate the exact file that the Secunia PSI has detected, please follow there guidelines using the
ADVANCED interface:
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
* Click on the + sign of the programme to “expand’ it.
* Click on Technical Details in the Toolbox to see the installation path of the detected file.
* Remember the installation path and close down the menu.
* Click Open Folder and locate the detected file.
If U are still not sure what to do post the file path U find to this forum & someone will help.

I've done that already. I tried to delete FF, and it said something to the effect that it may be in use by another person, or it's running in the background. I'm the only one on this machine, and I closed out FF, but it still won't delete it. I rescanned FF again, and it still says it's insecure...

It might be one of your add-ons that is holding you out...or Secunia is detecting. I have noticed that in about the last two years Mozilla has been doing an awful lot of updating and the riff between developer's add-ons keeping up with Mozilla has been slowing down thus very few have been able to update to the next browser update. You might try DISABLING all of them and run Secunia or use the "Temporarily allow all this page" prior to downloading & installing. This way Mozilla will advise of add-on compatibility with the new browser update. In some instances if Mozilla really likes an add-on it automatically incorporates it in the next browser update. ??????????Guesstimation beta tester for mozilla
I also advised Secunia that I was a beta tester and that I knew I could not be insecure as I am anywhere from 3 to 6 months ahead of public update. 3.1beta 3 have never had a problem with insecure advisory again. Needless to say I loose a lot of favorite add-ons which have to be updated all the time.
I recommend that you ONLY download Firefox from their website: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/products/firefox/ or use the update capability within Firefox itself. |

I ran a Secunia scan and FF3 ans iTunes both came out as secure so I used the blue download circle (always provided on the Secunia PSI page with the scan results, etc.) to download and install both upgrades.
In my case, both will not work. I downloaded them to my desktop and then ran them one at a time - several times. I even went back and downloaded them again to no avail. Finally, I just RAN them instead of my ususal "DL to DSKTP then install" and than didn't work. This is most unusual. My scans almost always come out 100% because I get notified in Secunia's weekly emails so when I do the PSI monthly, I'm usually fine.
On the occasion that I need an upgrade/patch, PSI always provides where to get it and I've never before had the slightest problems except with the Macromedia or whatever Flash - those are always a pain.
I don't understand. I've never had this problem before. I could maybe understand one program but both programs from entirely different places? Too strange for me. I need help please since I'm vulnerable with not one but two programs that I used daily. One, my browser, egad! The other, my much loved source of music.
Thanks and please advise. |

Are you still receiving Microsoft support? Do you think that their firewall may be holding out?. If you are running Mozilla and Thunderbird it might be your isp. I asked if anyone else has gotten the message from their isp and or anti-virus program: "Thunderbird is no longer supported". It appears that Microsoft is up to its old tricks. The only conceivable fix I can up with is to go to FileHippo.com and download their free update checker..I use the free standing version and of course you have to pick your language version. The nice thing about FileHippo is that they not only advise of outdated soft ware but they also handle the download of the correct version within FileHippo a much simpler way of staying updated with less problems. Secunia is great in that their tracing out to find third party installs and of course the forums. Secunia can be very complicated and frustrating at times. The update for FF is now 3.0.8 Luck What does your add/remove say you are running now, and check to see if you did not uninstall the old version. I see in my case that FF leaves the stable version in tac along with the beta version this way you can go to it if the beta version proves to unstable. "No Script" and "Cookie control permissions" do not get along with Secunia or with the download of most soft ware.
Found this quote from other forum:
Any cosmetic changes, general upgrades or bug fixes to a programme are not reported by Secunia which is only concerned with insecure items.
If U want a general updater to compliment Secunia a link is here:
