I am running Windows XP. I recently started having a problem using the FrontPage 2002 "Publish Web" function to upload pages to a website via FTP. The publishing would time out with the message "425 Unable to build data connection: Connection timed out." I was able to upload the files to the same site via FTP using FileZilla. I tried reinstalling FrontPage 2002. It still doesn't work, and now I get an "Insecure Program" warning from Secunia SPI. I'm guessing that is is because I lost a patch or patches when I reinstalled. When I try installing the suggested download solution (Security Update for Microsoft Office XP KB953405) I get the message "The expected version of the product was not found on your system." I'm guessing that this is because I have Office 2003, not Office XP. The path to the program is c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\FRONTPG.EXE I could try installing some earlier patches for FrontPage 2002, if I knew what they were and how to get them. The Secunia website has any entry referencing problems FrontPage 2002, but it doesn't list or have links to the patches. Is there any way I could access a set of previous Microsoft patches to FrontPage 2002? I could try installing them one at a time. Any suggestions? I understand that Microsoft is no longer supporting FrontPage. Perhaps I should try a new web editor? Thanks. |

Hi! Have you tried updating Frontpage through Microsoft update? (not the regular Windows Update). Underlien -- LG S900 Laptop 3GB RAM - Intel Dual Core 1.80 GHz Ubuntu Linux 9.04 Virtual Machines running Windows Vista and Windows XP |

Thanks Underlien! It worked! I installed a series of FrontPage 2002 updates. One of them let me apply the update suggested by Secunia PSI, and that patched the program. I still have my original problem of not being able to publish pages using FrontPage, but now I can work on that without getting insecure warnings every time I start up. Thanks again! |

Sorry, I don't recall. Long time ago. I do remember that there were very few patches to apply at the time, and I only had to install a few, possibly the earliest. |

I forgot to mention: the problem has since disappeared. I am now able to upload to my web page via FrontPage 2002 FTP. I don't know if something changed on my PC (Microsoft update, registry fix, patch?) or if something changed at the other end. |
