Hello,a "baloon" from Secunia icon in the taskbar announced a new version;do you know something about that? I have the 1003 version and, by laziness ,I wouldn't change it.

I download it, run the uninstaller for 1.0.0.3 and then install 1.0.0.4 finally choosing to run PSI at the end of the installer, but it's still 1.0.0.3 and I'm prompted to update again.

I checked after running the uninstaller and the Secunia folder had definitely been removed. I'm running Vista x64.

Stick with the online version as not much supports Vista 64bit yet.

64-bit has full 32-bit support you know, and since WHQL signing requires 64-bit equivalents of every 32-bit driver, there's really no reason to be staying 32-bit any more.

After reading your comments and also an earlier thread(PSI setup exe.-not a valid WIN32 application) it seems too much trouble for me with this new version;I don't want to risk losing the actual version (by uninstalling it) and not being "permitted" to install the new one. Few month ago I had this "not a valid WIN32" prompt(don't remember to what it related)and didn't know what to do for hours...So, for me,this means TROUBLE and I'll leave Secunia as it is.Anyhow, it would be interesting to see if the actual Secunia will put itself on the insecure list. He,he!

I managed to load it and tried to scan but it hung on the second task on the list. I had to reboot and tried again but this time it hung on the last but one task. I've uninstalled and reinstalled and it still seems to have problems

Hello, there! On the first reply to this thread there is a link for the new version.(in blue;you may click on it to go at the new version,to see what is there). I haven't tried it yet;I suggest to you to wait a little more, till more advices& opinions gather so you'll know better what to do with the new version .As for seeing what version you have now ,you must left- click on the "about Secunia" level after the right- click on the Secunia icon in the taskbar. Have a good day!

Version 1.0.0.4 is a bug fix but well worth installing.

The link to install is here:
http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal...

Select the RUN option - Secunia will auto uninstall old version & install new.

If this fails to work download this:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Once installed scroll down until U see Secunia PSI - highlight it & click remove.
Reboot then redownload Secunia using the method described above.

To see your current version click on the system tray icon - once the programme opens look at the bottom right corner.

Toki:

Right click PSI icon in notification area--system tray (right bottom of desktop screen,) then click on "About Secunia PSI."

Method suggested above will not work because version number is obscured by the notice that a newer version is available.

Hi,Toki! You were joking about unsubscribing from Secunia?!At least I hope so,because it is a good and useful programme, rather simple to use.I really am surprised by the problems that appeared with this new version.I suggest a bit of patience, remain on the current version, watch the comments on this forum and you'll see, the solution will come!

I had trouble installing the new Secunia application until I uninstalled the program, re-booted the PC and re-installed Secunia from
the website. I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only did I have the latest version of the program, it welcomed me back with my username and all the results for the previous 12 weeks.
Well done Secunia from a happy user.

Hallo meintower; yes that was a mistake to say I would unsubscribe this program. What I did try to say was that I did find the answer by help form you that did respond regarding my question where to find the excisting version of Secunia.
So again, thanks for partisipating in my problem; now solved.
Toki.

Yesterday I installed 1.0.0.4 without problems. The installation pro-
cedure first uninstalls the old version completely and then installs the new. When it starts up you will see the data and graphs as before.

There is a blue bar beneath the 10-week graphs and just above the task bar of your pc.On the right side you see the current version.

Thanks for your advice, but did you uninstall the old version by yourself (and if you did, where did you go for downloading the new one?) or you are speaking about the uninstall that is opperated by the new version on the old one?

Put the cursor on the blue bar where the new version is mentioned and press on left mouseclick. Secunia first uninstalls the old version and then installs the new one.

Well, that click did not function,( don't know why)so I've got to www.secunia.com just to see what's there regarding the new 1004;started the download from there and all went well(I had to click on EXIT at the taskbar icon of Secunia, then the 1003 version has been uninstalled and the new one installed),I've got my Interface, forum access,my Secunia profile, etc.Maybe now it makes fried potatoes too! So,all you Secuniards, go and get it!See you!
