I have tried a number of times to uninstall Secunia PSI unsuccessfully so that I can
re-install the newer version, I keep getting the message that I need
permission, how do I get this permission?.

Are you using this link for download? http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal... The only other thing I can personally think of is that with Vista you must be logged on with Administrator privliges. Using the above link, Secunia PSI should uninstall/reinstall the updated version.

thanks for your prompt reply wr, but i'm no further forward. I get as far as the uninstall wizard and when i click next i get the following message
'the Secunia PSI installer was unable to remove one or more previous
versions of the program, try and remove them manually'. i have tried this a few times with no success, I have noticed that Secunia is not in the control panel uninstall or change page

thanks again wr but again no success,I tried to download Windows cleanup utility tool, permission denied, code 800A0046.
I don't understand why i have any problem installing as i am the only one using this comp and therefore have myself down as administrater. I have "REVO uninstaller installed and used it a few times with excellent results but even it was beaten with Secunia. I wont bother any more with this problem and carry on without the update. once again thanks for your time and help

I Googled the error code & found this possible fix. I've never had the problem so don't know if this works or not-but worth a try.

Good luck,

sorry wr in not replying earlier as i was away the last few days, i done
as you suggested and got through to RegCure who done a scan and came up with 4,691 errors, (i find this hard to believe)so i clicked on the fixit
button to clear these errors??? and a window popped up saying i had to register, but to register i first had to choose one of six programs for
a three month trial and enter my credit card details, a thing i have never
done and do not intend to do so now. as Secunia is working away as usual i
will just carry on using it. once again thanks.

I found the following link for error 800A0046 which I presume to be a server issue on your end? Secunia PSI is for personal use only.
