Hi,
I have updated to the new PSI version from the last one.
I tried to run it directly from the set-up installer and it opened up its interface.
However, when I tried to run a scan it got to the second step "Downloading Search Rules From Secunia HTTPS" then within a split second a Error window pops up with a red X saying "ERROR : Scan Aborted"
I had not aborted the scan. I tried to run it several times but the same thing!!

I un-installed PSI, ran a reg cleaner, rebooted, ran the reg cleaner again, installed the new version again. But NOTHING!!! It hangs at "Please wait while network connectivity is verified"

Therefore I tried this I un-installed PSI (latest version), ran a reg cleaner, rebooted, ran the reg cleaner again, installed the previous version again but alas it hangs at "Please wait while network connectivity is verified"

I have tried several times to get it to work but nothing. I have installed both with and without the firewall. I have also downloaded the new version again.
Any ideas on how I should go now? Thank you very much for any ideas.

I'm running a Windows XP Pro SP2, 512MB RAM with Pent 4

Hi English Teacher please give this a try:

The Secunia PSI needs to be able to connect to Secunia servers to complete its scanning. However, if you have configured
the security settings of your Internet Explorer, the Secunia PSI may be prevented from getting the scan results. To receive
your scan results, you need to do some changes to your Internet options.
To do this:
a. Open Internet Explorer.
b. Go to Tools>Internet Options>Security tab.
c. Select the Internet zone and click on the Custom Level button.
d. In Security Settings, go to the Scripting>Active Scripting option.
e. Make sure that Active Scripting is Enabled (rather than Disabled or Prompted).
f. Press OK then Yes.
g. Back in the Security tab, select the Trusted sites zone and click on the Sites button.
h. Look at the bottom of the page and take the tick from the box marked"Require server verification(HTTPS)for all site zones" then type in the following and press the Add button to add them to the Trusted Zone Sites list:
http:*.secunia.com
https:*.secunia.com
i. Press Close
j. Run the Secunia PSI again to view the scan results
Both sites will now be OK
Good luck & regards, wr

Thanks a lot.

This worked a treat. Just one thing though. It wouldn't allow me to add http:*.secunia.com I got a message saying that there had to be HTTPS

Anyway thanks. One problem down one to go!!!

The only thing I had to add to trusted sites was https://psi.secunia.com
I don't think anything else is necessary.

Edit: See http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal...

Thanks and sorry. I misread that I was to uncheck that box. Anyway, it doesn't seem to matter as it is working fine now.

Thanks once again.
