I updated Acrobat Standard last night with the just released 9.1.1 patch, and Help/About in Acrobat shows the version as 9.1.1. However, a PSI scan that just ran says that my version of Acrobat is 9.0.0.332 and is insecure.

Nick

ps. I have just noticed that this seems to be an inconsistency between the simple and advanced interface modes in PSI. If I switch to simple interface, it shows the Secunia System Score as 100%. Switch back to advanced interface and the System Score is shown as 97%.

Running PSI v1.0.0.4

No inconsistency between Simple & Advance mode. Advance mode has a better database than Simple, therefore will show more insecurities in more programs. Don't be intimidated by the notice that Secunia issues when you click on the Advance mode. If you use it to find & repair insecurities you won't go back to Simple. To try & solve your immediate problem in the Acrobat program: To locate the exact file that the Secunia PSI has detected, please follow these guidelines using the
advanced interface:
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
* Click on the entry of the program to “expand” it.
* Click on Technical details to see the installation path of the detected file.
* Remember the installation path and close down the menu.
* Click Open Folder and locate the detected file.
You can then manually delete these remnants-reboot-rescan & hopefully all is well. Good luck & regards.

Looking at Technical details shows:

Version Detected:
9.0.0.332

Installation Path:
c:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe

Looking at the properties of acrobat.exe in Windows Explorer shows the version as 9.1.0.163.

So it would seem that a) the 9.1.1 patch doesn't update the acrobat.exe executable (the only updated file seems to be annots.api in the plug-ins directory), and b) PSI is getting the version number for acrobat.exe wrong.

I don't use Adobe Reader for this as well as many other reasons-too hard to update & keep updated-just a real muddle IMHO. I use Foxit Reader smaller & just as quick and easy to use as Adobe. If all you need is a reader for PDF I think Foxit is the way to go. Websites that state Adobe Reader needed to view & provide a link are @ best liars-you need a PDF reader & Adobe isn't the only show in town. With that said check out the enclosed link-especially the last 2-3 post in this thread good luck: http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/154...

This isn't Adobe Reader. It's the full Acrobat, for creating PDf files.
