Secunia Scan found some programs that I can not found in Add or Remove.
How can I deleted thiose programs??
Like, Norton Antivirus 2004. I have AVAST Antivirus, since I deleted Norton. According with Secunia
c:\APPS\NAV2004\NAV\EXTERNAL\NORTON\APP\NAVAPSVC.E XE
Do I need to go to C and in programs deleted the file from there?? |

U can do it that way but try this first:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf...
This programme is the official Norton Uninstaller.

Hi, thanks for the answer, however it did not work. I install and run the removal tool, but Sicunia still find the program or path.
What other choice I have? |

Location: Everett,Wa, US wr is probably right Norton installs like a Virus it is into absolutely every thing. There is only one way I know. Revo-uninstaller. Install go to tools-Junk Files cleaner-Options -Exclude and General being careful to only remove Symantec. It may take several tries and re-boots but you can do it . Make sure to check program files to be sure that it was removed. http://www.revouninstaller.com/
This is from another forum regarding Norton Symantec. The problem is not even a third party file install needing to be found. The problem is something that is left in the registry. I played "h""e" double tooth
picks getting it out of my system as an accidental install from a third party install. Luck
Be advised that according to Cnet Avira is suppose to have a faulty uninstaller also |

Because it is on your system. try this:
Click on start>run> type in the box REGEDIT
Highlight My Computer then select Edit>find - type SYMANTEC in the box - click find next - it will search for Symantec elements. Keep pressing find next after each event until it gives the all clear.
Read each entry found carefully. If U are sure U no longer want it right click & delete it.
ALTHOUGH A FAIRLY SIMPLE ACTION IF U ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE REGISTRY U ARE STRONGLY ADVISED TO BACK IT UP BEFORE TINKERING OR POST BACK WHAT U FIND FOR MORE ADVICE BEFORE DELETION.

Thanks Maurice, I did the regedit and delete everything that the system identify by Symantec and Secunia still showed the same when I scan.
Could it possible that Secunia gave me a false positive?? |

I don't know what WR's,or Maurice's take on this would be, but I would say NO!. It is there. Usually when this sort of thing happens, in other forums, it has been found in another partition. Sometimes in backup files or on drive "D".
I just took WR's advice and installed CCCleaner and guess what there was still Norton/symantec items left in there. Man oh Man Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

Norton/Symantec AV products are still almost impossible to remove. The enclosed link should be of help to hopefully completely remove it. Be sure to read CAREFULLY all the instructions as you will be dealing with the registry-good luck.

Use REGEDIT again - this time insert the word NORTON.
U can use whatever tools advised but it MUST be in the registry somewhere. It is not a false positive.
Are U absolutely sure PSI is pointing to C:\?
Norton is often a part of OEM versions of Windows therefore it could reside in D:\ or folder i386.
If it is definitely in the C:\ drive U need to find & delete it.
If anywhere else OTHER than C:\ U can ignore it.

Hey Maurice do remember the forum where the person having trouble finally found it in the recycle bin? I offer this only in passing:
To locate the exact file that the Secunia PSI has detected, please follow there guidelines using the
ADVANCED interface:
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
* Click on the + sign of the programme to “expand’ it.
* Click on Technical Details in the Toolbox to see the installation path of the detected file.
* Remember the installation path and close down the menu.
* Click Open Folder and locate the detected file.
Have U changed the folder option to show all hidden files?
Have U tried Windows search asking it to search hidden files? |

@Puget1
Good point - Worth a look but the search should find anything in Recycler.
I empty mine at boot time and assumed ....... silly me!
