Just upgraded my Firefox v.3.1.9 and (my primary browser) and got an alert to update the Yahoo Toolbar from v.1.5.20080717 to v.1.6.5.200812101546. I did NOT have the Yahoo Toolbar running on Firefox v.3.1.9. I updated (Firefox is now v.3.1.10), and when I'd try to open Firefox, I'd get a Firefox pop-up asking me to clear my private data. If I cleared the data, Firefox crashed. If I cancelled that pop-up, Firefox would stay open a little longer, but would still crash. I then was alerted by Secunia PSI v.1.0.0.6 Beta to update to v.1.0.0.7. (DONE!) I then accessed my security software in the task bar, Computer Associates' (CA) Security Suite 2009 software, which detected no spyware; the anti-virus program is still running (nothing detected yet), and so I have nothing to report re. a virus. Resorted to accessing Firefox through CA's program, and then deleted the Yahoo Toolbar. Firefox now opens without crashing (Yahoo Toolbar must be incompatible w/Firefox). HOWEVER, Yahoo Toolbar also had installed today onto IE8. How do I remove it from IE8? I disabled it in IE8, but couldn't locate an uninstall option anywhere. Has anyone else had this issue with the Yahoo Toolbar notification through Secunia PSI? THANKS! |

Wow mate, that is one difficult message to read, next time, please write in shorter paragraphs :-)
Have you checked add/remove programs for the Yahoo! toolbar?

Thanks, Dave. I just uninstalled the Yahoo Toolbar accessing Add/Remove from Secunia's site. (Had removed it from Firefox earlier, and only had IE8 to remove it from.) Did you know of anyone else with this Yahoo Toolbar issue? |
