Every time I launch PSI (either stable or beta), it stops responding and I have to use task manager to close the program. I have set my firewall (On-Line Armor) to trust the program. I am using XP Professional with SP3. Can anyone help me resolve this issue.

Thank you

I haven't expirienced this mate -- have you tried temporarily disabling your firewall and see if it still can't launch? Just to rule out if that could be the issue?

Good suggestion, but, this did not resolve the issue. The program still stopped responding while it was trying to verify network connectivity. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try this:
Secunia PSI needs to be able to connect to Secunia servers to complete its scanning. However, if you have configured
the security settings of your Internet Explorer, the Secunia PSI may be prevented from getting the scan results. To receive
your scan results, you need to do some changes to your Internet options.
To do this:
a. Open Internet Explorer.
b. Go to Tools>Internet Options>Security tab.
c. Select the Internet zone and click on the Custom Level button.
d. In Security Settings, go to the Scripting>Active Scripting option.
e. Make sure that Active Scripting is Enabled (rather than Disabled or Prompted).
f. Press OK then Yes.
g. Back in the Security tab, select the Trusted sites zone and click on the Sites button.
h. Look at the bottom of the page and take the tick from the box marked"Require server verification(HTTPS)for all site zones" then type in the following and press the Add button to add them to the Trusted Zone Sites list:
http:*.secunia.com
https:*.secunia.com
i. Press Close
j. Run the Secunia PSI again to view the scan results

Maurice:

I followed your instructions, except in the Trusted sites zone I could not enter http:*.secunia.com and https:*.secunia.com. I had to add them as: http://*.secunia.com and https://*.secunia.com. When I ran PSI, I got the same result, the program stopped responding whilw looking for the network connection. Any oter suggestions?

I assume these two are now in the Trusted Zone
http://*.secunia.com
https://*.secunia.com

Clutching at straws.

Have U tried this version of PSI?

http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/202...

Have U read the FAQ? Link here:
http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal...

If neither of these helps I can only suggest that some security feature U have installed is preventing a connection.

Maurice:

Thank you for your help. Yes, I have the two entries noted above in the trusted sites zone; and,I am using the latest beta. I have also turned all of my security products off. None of this has made a difference. The program still stops responding. Can you think of anything else?
