Hello,
i've been testing Secunia for 2 days.
But much doesn't work fine.

I will go back to the Tool in Kis 2010, which offers the same
features and is much clearer.

They have a really good online discription, and no wrong download links in the program.

Now i will come to the problems, which really anger me. :-(
At first, every link i used in Secunia, i got the Message, that there is no default Broswer.
But IE is allways my default browaser, and it works in every program fine.
The 2nd thing is, why does Secunia allways having a trayicon, even if i don't let it start at windows startup.

Why can you not make, a simple usefull tool, instead of a bloated software, which every user will uninstall it, after a few days?:-(

I'll find it good, if there is an option, where i can choose that secunia Psi starts once a week. Only for scanning, and if there are no problems, it should stop by itself, and no trayicon at the bar.

I hope you make some modifications in the future, or a better configure menu.

Best wishes, Andreas

Are you using the "stable" version 1.0.0.4 or a later "Beta" version ??

I was using version 1.0.0.4 .

What i definitely can't understand, is, why the program makes a tray-icon, when i start it only manually.
I hate it really, when tools grab deep in the system. :-(
Because Secunia, is only a additional tool for the most users.
I doesn't like if there are 10 Program's down right.

The most user's will have there an antivirus tool, and a antispyware software.
Many of them, have more than 2 security software's on their system(antivirus, antispyware, firewall, behaviour blocker).
So it isn't good, if there is a icon, only for checking programs up to date. Better make a simple, nice tool, as CCleaner.:-)

Sorry your not happy. I for one am very pleased with this tool and tell all my contacts what a good tool this is. I also like that the icon is in the tray as all I have to do to check psi is pass over the icon and know if all is up to date.

Hi Andreas,
I use all the tools you mention and I also browse using a sandbox.
Each tool has its use in trying to prevrent "infection" - believe me , prevention is better than cure. PSI tells you if any of your software is putting you at risk by not being patched for a security threat . { Try reading the stories about "Conficker" and "Gamblar".}
None of your A/V , A/S ,etc. software do this.
Most of your other complaints have simple work arounds ; you can remove PSI from your start list and you can remove it from windows system load - so it never starts. Run it manually & after the scan , right click the tray icon & click exit or you can use Task manager to unload it.
I'm not sure your point on hooks or bloatware is relevant , purely my point of view.
PSi runs as it does because Secunia thinks this offers best "security advice" & listens to millions of users' feedback.
Hope this helps , clears up some points .
Take care.
Anthony.

Andreas,
I forgot to mention that , at least in XP , if you right click "Start" & then click "PropÍrties" then you will be able to control how your tray icons are displayed/hidden in the Task Bar - thus you could stop the PSI icon displaying , but you would need Task manager to unload.
