Secunia PSI showed that my PowerPoint Viewer 2007 is insecure, and indeed there is an update on a Microsoft website. However, Microsoft has not offered it in Microsoft Update as an Automatic Update. I asked on a couple newsgroups and was told that Microsoft essentially forgot to issue the security update for the viewer when it did the security update for the main PowerPoint program. One of the Microsoft MVPs said Microsoft knows about the problem and will deal with it, though he wasn't sure when. Shortly after I got this info, I ran Secunia PSI's scan again--and this time I was told that my PowerPoint Viewer 2007 had been removed and all was well. But I DIDN'T remove it. So what's happening? Thank you, OldPhil. I did read that post. My question right now isn't how to fix the PowerPoint Viewer problem but why Secunia PSI suddenly decided that I had removed that program when it really is still on my computer and I've done nothing. Jo-Anne |
