Hi,

I'm not sure how to ask this.

I have Secunia PSI 1.5 on my desktop (Vista Home Basic SP2)installed without any problems. However on my Laptop there is an issue. The scan keeps going.
I reinstalled the software but this didn't help. I get the same issue.
The scan is always at the same step: "Matching data with Secunia File Signatures engine"

I let this go on for 4-7 min when it finally stopped and showed that I had 0 security problems. However when I went back to the scan tab, the scan had restarted. Now it's been running for 8 min with no change.
What Should I do?

N.B. System Specs
Core2Duo T8300 / 4GB RAM / Vista Home Premium SP2 (32 bit version) / avast! 4.8 Home / SAS Free / MBAM Free / Windows Defender / Windows Firewall / Spyware Blaster/ Secunia PSI / Firefox 3.5 / Opera 9.64

Please help.

Edit: I just checked. My other system has the same issue now. What is going on?

Good day PSI Community,
Just started having scan issue. Worked great until today. PSI 1.5 Scan hangs on 'Matching data with Secunia File Signatures engine' Step7 of 8. and after approx. 10min Scan Completes or times out. Last Full System Scan info does not change. Think it just times out.
Anyone know if Secunia has server issue? Anyone had similar experience?
All comments appreciated

Hi all, according to a email I received from Windows Secrets there was a electrical fire @ a major Web hosting site in Seattle, WA USA on July 3. The fire marshals ordered a complete evacuation of the building , so no backup generators/systems were activated. Service was restored to WS @ apx. 9:45 July 4. How many other Web services were affected or for how long was unknown by WS so this probably was the reason for a lot of sites being interrupted.

Windows Secrets comes in 2 flavors, free & paid edition. I think it's very informative even though i'm not a very technical person. I've been getting it for 1-2 years now, the free edition. Check out the enclosed link which explains this better than I ever could. http://windowssecrets.com/info/ I just haven't taken time to subscribe to the paid edition which contains a lot more info.

wr,
Thanks for the link...I looked at Windows Secrets. Always a concern to give out my email to get something for free. If you've not had any spam issues then I guess it's legit. I noticed you've upgraded to FF3.5. I'm still with 3.0.11. Thought I'd wait a few weeks for all the bugs to come out. Hows it been for you. Notice any issues yet. All your Add-Ons compatible?
Thanks again for passing along info re: Secunia.

bjm no spam from Windows Secrets at all. I added them to my contacts list so that my ISP wouldn't reject their emails as spam, that's why I send their URL as they suggested, so your ISP wouldn't reject it as spam. Regarding FF 3.5 all my add-ons work OK with the new version, no problems so far.

I can confirm what wr says regarding WS &Ff - I got a good offer for the paid version when Gizmo Richards joined up with WS . I find it gets a little bit "techie" for me .

Gizmo's own website ( minus his superb newsletter , unfortunately it has stopped ) I can also highly recommend ; it is free , but you need to sign in for the forum .
There is a very useful RSS feed.

Hope this is of interest to you.

Take care

Than you all for your replies. Never thought I would get so many.

For FF3.5 you will get a pop-up window upon install telling you if you have any add-ons that don't work. At that point you can still cancel the install.

Cheers

Hi Confused Comp..,
Your original message was posted in the "3rd Party Programs Forum". I sent you reply to move message to "Last Updated Forum". Others with same PSI Scan Issue posted in the "Secunia PSI Feedback/Questions Forum". Didn't want you to get left out of the dialog.
Regards
