I just had 2 Insecure warnings for Sun Java JRE 1.6.x / 6.x , version 6.0.130.3 but the Download Solution link goes to a Java site with 9 downloads but doesn't say which one to use.

Which one should I use?

Thanks
Tim

Vista 6, SP1

You should choose relative to your operating system: in your case, Vista ? I notice you havn't updated to SP2 ? 32 or 64 bit ?
It is better that you make certain of those matters first, and then clear out the old Java before installing the new version. Good luck.

Hi Mogs

Does this mean I have to delete the existing version and download a new one? I got the impression from the Secunia results that just an update is needed.

Re my OS, this the page with the 9 downloads which doesn't say if they're for 32 or 64 bit or which SP.

http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

The current version of JavaRE is 6/update15.It is probably better to uninstall the old versions first/do a scan, and check that Secunia has ceased to detect it: then try installing the new version from
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
Like I said before.....have you installed Vista...Service Pack2 ?

Thanks Mogs - I did what you suggested and Secunia doesn't ID Java as a thread any more.

My Vista is 32 bit, "Version 6.0 (Build 6001: Service Pack 1)". I've found the SP2 download on the MS site which only has "x64" versions. Assuming this is 64 bit, will it work on the 32 bit

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/dd26214...

TIA

Hi Tim.
You should go on from that page address above: see "Get Started" on the left of the page and read/click FAQ.There is more information to help you decide.
I have Vista Home Premium 32 bit operating system : I have Windows set to automatically download updates....that's how I came by SP2. As I said, best read more from that address you gave.
Have you now installed the new JavaRE update 15 using the address I gave you ?

Yes thanks, a successful day. I downloaded the latest version, which is operating fine, followed by the Vista SP2 which also seems OK.

Thanks for suggesting it

Morning Tim;
Glad it's all worked out for you. If you go to Windows Welcome Centre, you can click on "What's New in Vista ". There's lots of new aspects/features to it, which you may find useful. Do you have Windows set to auto-update..it may save you searches later?
