why is it that secunia tell that power dvd 5 is out of date but is working ok is it so that i have to buy new or is there a reason for the info

I don't know much about "Power DVD5 "; but is the program showing as "insecure" or "end of life"?
If it's insecure you may be able to patch it.
Are you using Secunia in Simple or Advanced mode?
Alongside the program you should see a + sign......if you click on that, it will expand and you will find further information to help you.

This user no longer exists RE: out of date

I have Win Dvd Player 5 that is marked as "out of date" that came with my XP Pro system and I just asked Secunia PSI to ignore it as I do not need Win Dvd Player 9.

You do know what the PSI actually does, right? Inform you of security patches. It's telling you about a security patch.
