Tuesday, August 25, 2009, 4:57:37 PM Good Day to all, My OS is Windows XP Pro SP3, IE7 & FF3.++, WinPatrol Plus, Avira AntiVir Personal, PCTool Firewall Plus, SpywareBlaster, CCleaner, Super AdBlocker + SAS,... PSI is reporting this info below [copied & paste from PSI & MS Update pages]: Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.x is insecure and potentially exposes your system to security threats! Secunia strongly recommends that you update this program by installing the update that is provided by the vendor of this program. When I click on the Download Solution button, it opens my IE7 browser (my default browser is Firefox 3.++), goes to MS Update page and only offers me 1 update. The MS update = KB972260 Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer for Windows XP is for IE6 not IE7. Under the 'System Requirements' = Win XP SP2 or SP3. And it states; This update applies to Internet Explorer 6 with the following operating systems: *Windows XP SP2 *Windows XP SP3 And when it tries to install the update, it gives me the msg.: Some updates were not installed. The version of Internet Explorer you have installed does not match the update you are trying to install. So is it PSI giving me the wrong information, or Microsoft or a bit of both or neither at all? This is the 3rd time I have had this problem with an update from MS & reported to me via PSI. This all gets so confusing, not to mention that I've probably got ya'll confused with this confusing post & I'm so confused, I'm not even sure what I'm trying to say... Para |

| Have you tried: Internet Explorer 8: Home page http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer... Red Deer is a nice place to live and close to 2 national parks. |

There are different downloads for IE 6 ,7 & 8 . This is the link for IE 7 :- http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?fa... You can use Firefox or IE to download ; alternatively go direct to Micrsoft Updates with IE & check for updates there. I sometimes have problems when PSI tries to use IE for it's solutions as Firefox is my default browser . -- It always seems impossible until its done. Nelson Mandela |

I finally got that update installed, albeit I had to do it manually because some updates will not install. I don't know why & I have research MS but the work arounds they give, just don't make any sense at all. Oh well... Para |
