There was published an advisory about Wizz RSS ,

Wizz RSS News Reader Extension for Firefox Code Execution Vulnerability
http://secunia.com/advisories/36428/

but Secunia PSI does not list this extension among my installed firefox extensions. I have already installed patched version, but others may not.

Secunia seem to be quite busy most days** and while I'm sure they check the Forum , I doubt they can respond to everything all the time .

This is why , at the bottom of any PSI page , there is a link for you to use to "suggest" a programme for inclusion ; whether/when it gets included will still be up to Secunia.

**Secunia don't work on PSI at the weekends.

Hope this helps.

Take care
Anthony

PS:If you want to know why they have an advisory but do not detect your version , you could ask them direct at support@secunia.com ; you will still need to use the "suggest" link , as well.

I was not expecting the response, but action. As far as they are aware about WizzRSS FF addon, not need for SW suggestion. Of course I do not expect they work on weekends, I am very well aware about it.

Secunia did not detect any WizzRSS addon version on any my PCs,
and I update addons regularly.

I can send email to support, as far I did in the past.
But AFAIK this solution was used in past, before the forum was created. Later they encouraged users to use forum, instead of direct emails.
So, I am supposing feedback/question forum section is a kind of support email replacement.

What one expects and what one gets are not always the same thing , luckily for some .

Secunia detection rules For PSI do not always fit every system in an ever changing world .

Like I said :-

"PS:If you want to know why they have an advisory but do not detect your version , you could ask them direct at support@secunia.com ; you will still need to use the "suggest" link , as well."

It still means that you try the Forum first to see if anyone can help/offer advice ; if they cannot or it is not satisfactory , then you can go back to support with an Email.

Sure, I am used to PSI rules logic often differs from what one may expect.
I was not concerned about my case, but if WizzRSS is detected in general.

Yes , you were clear about your concern for others and I hope you get Secunia to update their rules to cover as many variable "installation paths" as possible.

The differing locations/naming of add-ons as "extensions, themes or plug-ins" in Firefox means that several are not detected .

Hello;

Can't help myself, so please do not take offense. I also have certain things which Secunia could do better. However, for what you paid for PSI (Hello! It's free!), I believe Secunia is providing a huge public service.

Granted, they make alot of money by protecting corporate servers and they gain useful information towards that end from the private individuals runing PSI. What do we get for the info we provide Secunia? Free security software that, in my opinion, is indespensable.

Please consider this. It's like having a modern police force in your community, they protect everyone, not just the big business downtown with lots of tax dollars, but the guy in the suburbs too. It's in the police force's (Secunia's) best interest to keep crime low all over town. If they keep criminals out of the suburbs (our computers) the criminals won't be around to bother the bussiness downtown (corpatate servers).

regards;
Fred

Hello,

I am not quite sure you get my point. I am not complaining,I do not want to get more I have paid for. All I have written is to help Secunia.
What we can offer is our feedback, both positive and negative have their price.

Only good products are worthy of our time to discuss improvement.

Well, If I have to complain, only bad thing on Secunia is a size of useful info area on the webpage. It was too small even before dividing it to 3 pages.

AAh Fred , nice to have you back :))

If only the police and their political masters did think and behave as you describe/wish them to be ; then the horrendous problems that have been created in the suburbs and the "ghettos" would be long gone .

Are you really going "highspeed broadband" - you'll miss dial up !!;o))

Take care
Anthony

Sorry;

Didn't mean to jump on anyone. Guess I should read over my response before I hit the send button. It's like I said, though, there are a couple of "quriks" that bug me too. We just have to realize that Secunia is going to deal with the guys with $$$ before anyone else. It's suprising to me that they are as apt to give a reply on this fourm as they are. My intention was to thank Secunia not disparage your concerns.

Hi Anthony, didn't realized I was missed. By the way I live in a perfect world that only has computer glitches & cold coffee, no crime, violence or hunger. You should come visit my planet sometime (ha)!

apologies & regards to all;
Fred

PS Anthony;

I've been fiddling around with Ubuntu. It works pretty good on my HP. But I haven't found a driver for my Conexant modem yet, so I can't use it @ home. Which makes it hard to use Ubuntu unless I'm @ my buddys house, who has WiFi. It works great there! You know what bugs me is there is DSL about a mile from here & my neigborhood is full of kids, so I ain't the only one that would use it.

I'm going to go off by myself to pout for awhile now.
Fred

The last mile of the old copper wires Fred , a bottomless pit , no end in sight or just a slight glimmer when you hold your head correctly and smile :)) So for heavens sake , stop pouting before your Ubuntu attacks you with an assagai !!

Take care

Hi Anthony;

Although it pains me to admit it, you are correct. Grin and bear it, I suppose, is the only correct response. Be well, my friend, I shall.

Normally I would complain little bit about a thread hijacking,
but I like to see two old friend have met each other.

Hello poutnikl ,

I'm afraid Fred is a bad person and notorious "thread pirate" :(( , unfortunately there is no moderator for the Forum to make him walk the plank , so we just have to take him as he is :))

Don't let us distract from getting PSI to update it's detection rules for the add-on , it is important .

Take care the both of you ,
Anthony
