I run Vista Home Premium SP2. The installed IE8 version is 8.0.6001.18813, however PSI always detects version 8.0.6001.18702. Why? Has anyone the same problem? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Where are you getting the version information from? You don't say whether you're using the Advanced interface or not. Could it be that Secunia is detecting old files? Have you tried deleting them ?
I have the latest version:- 8.0.6001.18813, but it is still shown as insecure for browsing; as it has done for quite a while , awaiting patch from vendor.

Thank you MOGS.

I have got the version information from the advanced interface, with a scan performed after having run windows update. By the way, also VISTA is labeled as insecure, even after the most recent update.

I am not overly concerned, just puzzled!

Best Regards

You havn't said whether you've expanded (+), the insecure items shown, to get more information. Discover the file paths to the insecure files. Is Secunia detecting what may still be in the Recycle bin ?
I havn't encountered these particular problems myself...so they are puzzling for me also. I'm surprised there has not been more replies to your post.

Is Vista shown as version SP2 and in the insecure tab, or SP1 ?
Is Vista showing in the patched program tab as well ?
What version of Internet Explorer is showing in the Secure Browsing tab ?

Mogs, thank you for your interest.
I have checked further along your suggestions and the outcome is even more puzzling. When I expand the entry about IE I find: Installation path: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe. If I go to the concerned file and I explore its properties, I get: Version 8.0.6001.18813, last update 21/07/2009. It seems that PSI is looking at the correct (updated) file, but for some reason it gets an older version number from somewhere else. The recycle bin is empty. I will try to reinstall PSI, maybe it helps.
Thank you again!

Mogs, thanks again for your help.

To answer your questions:
Vista is shown in the Insecure tab as SP2.
Neither Vista nor IE are shown in the Patched Programs tab.
The Secure Browsing tab reports Internet Explorer 8.x; clicking on the relevant entry brings back to the Insecure tab, where the old version number is displayed.

As I told in my previous reply, I intend to reinstall PSI, maybe something went wrong somewhere. I will keep you informed.
Best Regards

A quick question , is there anything showing in the error log (bottom right) after you scan . A full scan is needed for MS programmes.

Awaiting the outcome of your re-install with interest. If it's of any use....both IE8 and Vista are shown in my patched tab....IE8 is also in the Secure browsing tab...status/insecure.no solution. Good luck.

Anthony, thank you for your suggestion.

The error log is clean. PSI performs a complete system scan.

Meanwhile I have reinstalled PSI (version 1.5.0.1) and now everything is all right. I get exactly the same response as MOGS mentioned.
Thanks again.
