I have updated my Mozilla Firefox 3.5.2 over six times, I have uninstalled it and re installed it three times now and it still shows as a catagory 4 threat. The same thing is now also happening to my Thunderbird 2.0.0.23..and the last two times my avast anti virus is doing this also. Do I have a corrupted Secunia program are all these programs really not secure....Firefox and Thunderbird are both catagory 4 threats and the Avast is labeled as a catagory 3. Can some one please help me.
Thanks for your help |

I have the stated version of Firefox and Thunderbird installed on my system, and no vulnerability identified by PSI. If FF and TB are listed as vulnerable, which versions are identified by PSI? Also, you might check the directory in which PSI has found those versions (there may be an old version somewhere that you are not aware of). |

First go to "Help" and check Mozilla for updates it should say whether you do or don't need an update and you can download directly from browser.. You should be able to check what version TB you have and get an update directly from Your Help menu "if I remember" there also.
Poss. simple fixes
1: It could be the privacy issue with your browser. If it is Mozilla disable all add-ons "all" and then do your downloads or use the "temporarily allow this page" before doing your downloads. " No Scripts and cookie controls" can stop downloads verify with add/remove as to what version FF you have. 2: If you use multiple browsers then you must update with each browser i.e.Mozilla & ("IE 8"NOW) (most common)3.You may be experiencing problems with your fire wall try to update with firewall off or what steps are recommended.
To locate the exact file that the Secunia PSI has detected, please follow there guidelines using the
ADVANCED interface:
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
* Click on the + sign of the programme to “expand’ it.
* Click on Technical Details in the Toolbox to see the installation path of the detected file.
* Remember the installation path and close down the menu.
* Click Open Folder and locate the detected file.
Have U changed the folder option to show all hidden files?
Have U tried Windows search asking it to search hidden files? |
