I'm new to Secunia and after the initial scan, I performed all fixes. However, there's one that when I try to fix it, doesn't complete but gives the message, "Setup has detected that you already have a more functional product installed. Setup will now terminate." This is related to installing Adobe, for which I already have an updated version.

What can I do to stop continually getting the "Unpatched Security Threat" warning for this one item that appears to be unnecessary to fix? (Current scans end by saying "The following was detected: 0 security threats")

Thank you.

That is a very old version but where is it?

To locate the exact file that the Secunia PSI has detected, please follow there guidelines using the
ADVANCED interface:
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
* Click on the + sign of the programme to “expand’ it.
* Click on Technical Details in the Toolbox to see the installation path of the detected file.

Hello,

I think all the problems are fixed now. There was still a program for Adobe 5 reader on my system and I removed it and that got rid of the error. Also, I'm able to run scans now.

Thank you and that is all.
-------------------------------------------------- ----
I did what you said and then updated Adobe reader.

From then on though, I am unable to open Secunia from the desktop; I always get: ERROR Secunia PSI is unable to connect to the Internet.
(and my Internet is working).

Can you tell me how to open Secunia PSI now so I can do another scan?

Thank you.

Is it fixed? your post seems to say both things at once. If it's not:
Enable active scripting in IE, and add https://psi.secunia.com to your trusted zone in IE.
Also, check your firewall logs, of course. ;)

If you're having trouble getting Secunia to connect try this:

The following steps are the latest version I know of to ensure connectivity to Secunias servers:

Secunia PSI needs to be able to connect to Secunia servers to complete its scanning. However, if you have configured
the security settings of your Internet Explorer, the Secunia PSI may be prevented from getting the scan results. To receive
your scan results, you need to do some changes to your Internet options.
To do this:
a. Open Internet Explorer.
b. Go to Tools>Internet Options>Security tab.
c. Select the Internet zone and click on the Custom Level button.
d. In Security Settings, go to the Scripting>Active Scripting option.
e. Make sure that Active Scripting is Enabled (rather than Disabled or Prompted).
f. Press OK then Yes.
g. Back in the Security tab, select the Trusted sites zone and click on the Sites button.
h. Look at the bottom of the page and take the tick from the box marked"Require server verification(HTTPS)for all site zones" then type in the following and press the Add button to add them to the Trusted Zone Sites list:
http:*.secunia.com
https:*.secunia.com
i. Press Close
j. Run the Secunia PSI again to view the scan results

If using a browser other than IE the settings can be accessed by clicking Start-Control Panel-Internet Options-then follow c thru j

Regards, wr
