When I install latest Shockwave Player, it also 'drops' Shockwave Player 10 (end-of-life) to my Computer.. You can only remove 11.5(latest) with Add/Remove. (There is no separate for Shockwave 10.) 'Shockwave Player 10'-folder doesn't even have unwise.exe. |

Adobe uses MSI so U should be able to find & remove it using this tool: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 Failing that, this may help: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14224.html -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 16GB RAM |

Hi. You can delete Shockwave 10 from C:\Windows\System32\Macromed. What I found though is if you Google Shockwave Player Tests and run some of them it reinstalls Shockwave 10 files back to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed. One of these tests is is titled Macromedia Shockwave Player Test. It shows an animation of a car with background music. Therefore I may be mistaken but it seems then that some sites still use Shockwave 10. As was mentioned, it doesn't show in Add/Remove programs. Mark |

That does not surprise me. I stopped using Adobe products years ago because of their cavalier approach to individual security & total muddled approach to updating. Do U really need Shockwave? If not uninstall it completely. If U do use it does this link also install Shockwave 10? http://www.filehippo.com/download_shockwave/ -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 16GB RAM |

Hello Maurice , I personally have always used this link from the Adobe website ; this downloads the slim installer (using Firefox) and (for me) it updates the existing version without adding back version 10 which is still used by some developers and , it seems , the Mac OS. http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/ The FileHippo link only appears give the new version , but it is a full installer , you may need to remove the old ones with the Shockwave uninstaller first. Anthony -- It always seems impossible until its done. Nelson Mandela |

@Yatski might want to try your link as well. I have no personal interest - I would not touch any Adobe programme even if paid a royally fee. -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 16GB RAM |

Installer from FileHippo doesn't drop Shockwave 10... But does http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/hunting/news/st... ? (This link installs End-of-Life version of Shockwave.) Yup. Solved. |

Hello Yatski , Just ran your ESPN link & Shockwave version 10.4.1.26 was indeed loaded into my System32/Macromedia folder as "SwOnce.dll" and "SwInit.exe" and were picked up by PSI in real time in the "end of life" tab. Firefox did try to warn me first , bless it's little socks . I only click on links like the one you posted when my browser is running in a sandbox (Firefox 3.5.3 in Sandboxie in this case) ; so in fact PSI has only read the virtual files in Sandboxie , that is not a security problem for me and a one click deletion when I close and empty the sandbox . I also tend to run website programmes such as games in my sandbox , at least first to check them out , and usually by habit. Others may not be so lucky , so perhaps you might like to edit your post , to say specifically that clicking on the link will load onto their computer Shockwave verion 10 , which is out of date & could pose security problems. I think your post is very interesting in security terms and it emphasises the possible dangers on clicking on seemingly reliable links on trustworthy websites. No wonder Secunia says that it takes no responsibility for what is written here !:o)) Glad your problem is becoming clearer. Take care Anthony FYI: PSI again responded in real time to show Shockwave 10 removed when I deleted the sandbox . Pretty good on both their parts. -- It always seems impossible until its done.
