I continue to receive insecure warnings on Avast version 4.8. I have installed the latest version from the Avast site and I still continue to receive a notice of the program being insecure.

Any help would be appreciated.

John

I presume you have re-booted since downloading the updated version of Avast and run another scan with Secunia......When this same problem happened to me on the update before the latest one, I went to the Avast site downloaded the avast removal file, uninstalled Avast and rebooted then re-installed Avast rebooted and ran a new scan in Secunia after that all was well and Secunia reported it patched...........

I had rebooted after installing Avast and that still did not allow me to eliminate the Avast "Insecure".

I did find that my time was off by one hour. I re-set the time to the correct time and rebooted and that did correct the problem.

Thank you for your assistance.

Last edited on 14th Oct, 2009 03:10 Use the ADVANCED menu and look where avast! is installed.

Mine is in C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashServ.exe

For the Insecure Programs click on + then Installation Path and post its path here.

Hi

Please notice that you manually have to mark "Update" in the Avast Installation Wizard. The default selection is "changed" which apparently does not update Avast correctly.

Running the downloaded .exe file which i got from the PSI "Solution" followed by the steps above, it solved the insecure program (after reboot and rescan)

Ok this appears to be one of those problems, where you have to do things twice. the first time it doesnt work the second time it should work.
the first time I tried clicking the PSI solution I got nothing, so I downloaded the file from Avast etc, It didnt work.then I read the previous post. And tried the PSI solution again this time it offered me a file to download and Instal, I did this rebooted and everything is working OK. Will keep you informed if any more glitches appear?

I too first downloaded from the avast! site and though the download reduced the critical factor from 4 to 2, it was still a problem. So I then updated through the avast! program, and that did the trick. Right click on the avast! icon in the system tray, move to Updating and then select Program Update.
