Hi All, My dilemma is: How do I uninstall askit toolbar when it isn't listed in my programs.? I use revo uninstaller and it doesn't show in the programs listing. I don't find it listed in the Add/Remove programs listing either. I know it is installed as Secunia tells me so. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I am a novice in computers so please give me the easiest and most basic way to do this, if that is possible. THANK YOU !!!! Lovinmalamutes~ |

To help resolve your problem , here are some instructions to help you first of all get the best out of PSI :- 1)use PSI in "advanced" mode ; 2)in the "settings" tab make sure that the box in the first/upper section is NOT ticked in order to have the maximum info available ; 3)tell us in which "tab(s)" your problem programme is located ; 4)in that tab , click on the + in the box at the left end of the programme , the page will expand ; 5)in the expanded page , tell us what is written in the "installation path" ; 6)in the "toolbox" section , lower down , the link "technical details" should confirm the installation path details ; 7)click on the link "open folder" and you will see more details concerning the location of the "problem" . If you are unable to resolve the problem yourself , all this info should allow someone on the forum to help/advise you . Let us know how you get on or if you need more help . Thank You Anthony! I have done as you said in regards to "Advanced" settings on Secunia. Now, when I get the info in the folder should I delete it all there and then that will remove this askit toolbar??? The path is; C:/ProgramFiles/AskBarDis/bar/bin/askBar.dll As I mentioned previously I am a novice, and so I don't know what my options are to rid my computer of this program. Actually I don't know how, or why, it is even on my computer. I don't remember intentionally installing it at any time. THANK YOU for the help!!! Lovinmalamutes~ |

To explain my question about "Foxit" ; a lot of reputable free software also bundle (for commercial reasons) other things in with their download , if you are not careful during installation you get unexpected "gifts". Someone has "given" you the ASK Toolbar & the file Secunia points to is part of it ; one of the more obvious sources of this is Foxit , the PDF file reader. You can just delete the "AskBarDis" folder and this will remove most of the problem , but odd bits & pieces may get left behind ; not really a problem , just unnecessary dross. The cleanest removal of the toolbar is normally to remove/delete the programme which installed it . So if you have Foxit this should take the ASK toolbar with it . You can then reinstall Foxit making sure that you DESELECT their "gifts" as you run the installer . If this is not clear , let me know . Let us know how you get on anyway. Hi Anthony, Yes I have Foxit installed along with Foxit Reader. The thing is I just added them recently. The askit program has been showing on Secunia since before I installed the Foxit toolbar, and Foxit reader. So maybe it came in some other program I loaded not knowing it? Thank you for the help. It is appreciated greatly. Have a good day! Lovinmalamutes~ |
