At the top of each thread it tells you if you are subscribing to it or not. Click the link it provides to either stop or start subscribing to the thread.

If you are making a posting to a thread there is a tick / check box at the bottom of the page which is automatically ticked/checked if you do not want to subscribe untick/uncheck the box.

Just above the first post by ozyloo there is a section named Subscription, that is where you can elect to receive alerts or not.

A very obvious 'can't see the forest for the trees' problem.
michaelsalis directions for this are 'spot on'.
When you open a thread to view the postings near the top of that page is a subheading-Subscription- the last word in the last sentence is here & colored blue & underlined. By clicking 'here' you can subscribe/unsubscribe as needed.
@ the bottom of the Content box-below the Formatting your text instructions-there is a selection that by default is ticked/checked-Subscribe to this thread. Here again the choice is yours-if left alone you'll receive email notifications-untick/uncheck & no email. This last choice must be made BEFORE you hit Reply.

Regards, wr
EDIT: ozyloo-unless you've got some really weird resolution setting(s) the page display for Vista & XP is the same.

FWIW , you do actually have to be "logged in" to see the "subsription" message at the top of the thread ; this may explain ozyloo's problem :ie: he's not/can't log in , it seems.

Hi Anthony Wells,
Thanks for 'heads up' on not being logged in & screen not visible.
Hope your having a enjoyable weekend-I'm being a 'couch potato' & watching the college football games on tv while trying to confuse the Forum with my postings'

Hi wr ,

After watching the white horses and black bulls run through the town streets (it's our local "fête") , I've been watching European Cup Rugby , watching it rain in Rio for the F1 & after a couple of glasses of a locally made merlot (excellent) looking to follow your example and confuse everyone :o))

Take care
Anthony
