I've been helping a friend get his pc up to date, after a long period of comparitive neglect. We've succeeded in getting it to 100% with Secunia:he's running Windows XP Home Edition on a RAM Intel(R) with version 2002 SP2. Every time he tries to obtain SP3 he keeps getting Access Denied. Has anybody any suggestions/links please ?

A long time since, I know, but just wanted to let you know that my friend has now got his pc all up to date....XP SP3...100% with Secunia. We've managed to sort many matters out by referring to various and diverse postings of yours, Maurice. Thanks.
One odd querie tho'! Is Windows Welcome Centre peculiar to Vista? Should it be apparent in XP? Thanks again.

Not sure I fully understand what U mean.

I run a full version of genuine WindowsXP. I have not got a Welcome Centre.

I have seen many variants of Welcome Centres. They are from OEM versions of Windows where Manafacturers "tart up" genuine Windows with all sorts of Cripple Ware,Crap Ware & Bloatware to get U started "out of the box".

Is that what U mean?
