Last 2 days Secunia Security is alarming that Firefox 3.5.4 is not patched and is exposing my PC to security treat. I followed the recommended action and downloaded again (2 days in a row) the new edition of Firefox. After the new scan Secunia still shows flows in Firefox. Does any body have advice for this problem?

Hello,

I am having the same problem. And i've tried at least 5 times and secunia still says it is insecure. Could someone please help figure out why this problem is occurring? I've not have a problem upgrading Firefox before.

Thanks

Hello ,

If you are new to PSI , here are some tips for using PSI "advanced" mode :-

To help resolve your problem , here are some instructions to help you first of all get the best out of PSI :-

1)use PSI in "advanced" mode ;
2)in the "settings" tab make sure that the box in the first/upper section is NOT ticked in order to have the maximum info available ;
3)tell us in which "tab(s)" your problem programme is located ;
4)in that tab , click on the + in the box at the left end of the programme , the page will expand ;
5)in the expanded page , tell us what is written in the "installation path" ;
6)in the "toolbox" section , lower down , the link "technical details" should confirm the installation path details ;
7)click on the link "open folder" and you will see more details concerning the location of the "problem" .

If you are unable to resolve the problem yourself , all this info should allow someone on the forum to help/advise you .

This thread tells you how to update Firefox from within the open browser , I don't know what methods you are/have been using .

Hope this helps , let us know how you get on or if you need more help.

Take care
Anthony.

I solved the problem at the end by downloading the new Firefox 6 Beta. with the previous version - Firefox 3.5.4 I presume there is bug problem which is not allowing to patch the browser. I read in PC Magazine about this issue. So, go at Mozilla place and get the Beta it is working perfect.

Don't forget your add-ons. No-scripts & cookie controls will interfere with down loads and should be disabled when updating firefox and sometimes other programs. You can use the "temporarily allow this page" from customize option and placing it on your menu or toolbar.

FYI - a new patch for FF was released in the last 24hrs.

New version is 3.5.5

Also, PSI didn't catch it (for me)

The release notes** for 3.5.5 indicate "stability" updates ; PSI checks "Security" updates .

**They can be located from Ff's "Help" dropdown menu .

No problem ; I posted some tips on using PSI (if you are new to it) higher up this thread .

Don't hesitate to ask/post if you have a problem/question - we are all learning from each other :o))
