There are a number of things you can do to keep your computer as it's best. I use CCleaner to clear most of the Internet clutter, Revo uninstaller to clear all the entries when uninstalling programs, it also does a a full clean of all the rubbish on your disc. Keeping programs and drivers upto date also helps, I've been using Filehippo Update checker and just recently CNET Tech Tracker. Regular defrags will help in addition to keeping the registry clean. There are ,000's of programs which will do all these things, perhaps a look at Gizmo's Freeware Review will help you decide as there are as many ideas of what you should use as people replying to you. The address is: http://www.techsupportalert.com/ I hope that helps you. I would most certainly agree with Michael and would add that "fiddling" with the Registry is dangerous unless you are an expert or have a friend to advise/help you . The "default" setting in the Registry tool of CCleaner is possibly a safe place to start if you insist doing something to the Registry. Back up the Registry/set a System Restore point before you do anything . There really could be a huge number of reasons as to why your computer is running slow ; as well as Gizmo's site you may want to check some "general" Forums such as CNet to seek help from the "experts". Take care Anthony -- It always seems impossible until its done. Nelson Mandela |

This is who I use http://www.auslogics.com/en/software/registry-clea... the problem is they all use a set format which can be harsh. You kind of have to experiment. However I have had good luck with it and also use cc cleaner both seem to work on the same level. Defrag and disk clean-up are essential as advised from above. -- |

I find that regularly running DSKCHK, and the Memory Diagnosis Tool in Vista ,also contributes to the performance....besides regular CCleaning: Auslogics Reg scan and Screensaver Defrag. Hope you find the info of use. -- |
