MS's download screen shows that this program installed successfully, but PSI shows that it's a threat. When I click on the PSI blue arrow, it takes me back to the MS download screen and the process continues. Doing a PSI rescan after I download and install KB923723 still shows it as a Cat 4 threat. (Unable to determine the path to KB923723.) I tried to uninstall KB923723 via the Windows Add/Remove programs, but when I click on uninstall, it comes up with a long list of programs that it says may not work properly if I uninstall KB923723. Looks like I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't. Any good ideas? AL |

They do help towards keeping things running smoothly....sometimes a system can become "forgetful" or misplace/lose files. They're certainly tools never worth leaving freezing. -- |

I have XP. Have not run CHKDSK recently. However, as I recall, Microsoft didn't offer a way to get rid of this dog, but gave instructions for going into the register to manually delete it. I don't know why it's still available on their site for download, since the apparently know that it causes these problems. |

I am not sure what U mean "I cannot find file path". If PSI finds a vulnerability it gives the path. FINDING A VULNERABILITY FILE PATH ================================= To locate the exact file that the Secunia PSI has detected, use or switch to the ADVANCED interface, then : 1 Click on the + sign of the programme to "expand' it. 2 Click on Technical Details in the Toolbox to see the installation path of the detected file. (Copy (CTRL+C) & paste (CTRL+V) the Installation Path of the file back to the Forum if U are unsure what to do next)). -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 16GB RAM |

I "Googled" the KB number and this site appeared which seems to date back to 2007 !! There does appear to be a workaround suggested :- http://forums.techarena.in/windows-update/693163.h... Try Googling ( or use your preferred search engine ) to see what else is on offer . -- It always seems impossible until its done. Nelson Mandela |

@Anthony I think U have found the solution if the path shows the vulnerability as the irun file. I would certainly give your solution a try. -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 16GB RAM |
