Secunia Pesonal Software Inspector, today, November 25, 2009, did not detect the following three updates from Microsoft:

Update for Windows XP (KB973687)
Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB973688)
Update for Windows XP (KB976098)

Regards,

For me , an Email from Secunia OSI usually precedes an update showing in PSI . Not had either as yet , but two of your posted updates are showing for my PC at MS updates .

Is the "S" in your name short for Secunia :o))

Norman,
You have raised a very interesting point. I do not think they relate to vulnerabilities but to critical bug fixes.

If I am correct I can only assume that Microsoft have posted them there rather than the optional update section because so many users never bother to check the site using the Custom button.

They have also posted one to this section which relates to the important subject of Root Certificates.

I may be talking "cobblers" so will ask Secunia support to comment.

If you look at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894199 you will find these updates listed under Non-Security content. So no reason for Secunia to flag them as vulnerabilities.

OK. I got it. Thanks and three cheers for Secunia.

Microsoft's High-Priority Updates are distinct from Security Updates.

To close this thread Secunia have responded to me by email. What has already been established is correct & they will not be adding further comment.
