I ran a scan and made the updates. I wanted to rescan to see the improvement. It is stuck at 5%.

Thanks, BlueEyez44

Hi BlueEyez44;

If PSI didn't compleat the scan, I'd try these steps:

1)Shut down PSI, to do this, right click on the PSI icon (three red arcs) in your system tray (bottom right, by the clock), click on "Exit".

2)Make sure your internet connection is OK.

3)Restart PSI, click "Start" button, mouse over "All Programs", click on "Secunia PSI"

4)Try running the scan again.

Post back with your results. Sorry if I've given too much detail.

1.Secunia PSI needs to be able to connect to Secunia servers to complete its scanning. However, if you have not configured
the security settings of Internet Explorer, the Secunia PSI may be prevented from getting the scan results. To receive
your scan results, you need to do some changes to your Internet options.
To do this:
a. Open Internet Explorer.
b. Go to Tools>Internet Options>Security tab.
c. Select the Internet zone and click on the Custom Level button.
d. In Security Settings, go to the Scripting>Active Scripting option.
e. Make sure that Active Scripting is Enabled (rather than Disabled or Prompted).
f. Press OK then Yes.
g. Back in the Security tab, select the Trusted sites zone and click on the Sites button.
h. Look at the bottom of the page and take the tick from the box marked"Require server verification(HTTPS)for all site zones" then type in the following and press the Add button to add them to the Trusted Zone Sites list:
http://*.secunia.com
https://*.secunia.com
i. Press Close
j. Run the Secunia PSI again to view the scan results
If using a browser other than IE open Control Panel>Internet Options then follow c. thru j.

regards, wr

Hi wr;

I don't believe I've wished you a happy & prosperous New Year yet!

The http can't be added to Trusted sites zone, only https. Please double check, but it won't work on mine.

Hi Fred
Thanks & I also wish you a very Happy & Prosperous New Year.
Regarding adding to the Trusted Sites Zone-I have both http:// & https:// in 'there'. I just followed the instructions as they are posted.

BTW I ain't looked @ the Weather Channel today, but I hope you're experiencing warmer weather today than what you have been. It's about 20F here in E TN-no wind chill-wind is calm, thank goodness.

Regards, wr

Sorry for late response, but that is correct.
Thanks for input Maurice, especially on the fact that it also
works on WIN7. If I ever decide to leave Vista good to know
how to configure connection settings.
BTW Maurice a Happy & Prosperous New Year to you also & anyone else I may
have forgotten.

Hi all;

@BlueEyez44 Apologies for taking over the thread. Did you resolve your scan problem?

@wr Evedently I have the problem on my end. Neither machine (both XP) will accept http:// as trusted site.

@Maurice Any idea where to start?

Hi,
There is a setting to disable the need for https for trusted connections. It should be located right where you configure which sites to trust.
Hope this helps.

Hi Emil R. Petersen;

Thank you for your input.

It would makes things easier if I read things that have check boxes beside them wouldn't it? Somehow I believe I might miss the trees while standing in a forest!

I still have a problem if you'd care to listen. I'm on a dial-up connection at home, running XP on two different laptops. PSI runs fine on wireless or Ethernet connection when available. Neither has an easy time loading PSI at home. Just tested this one after adding http://*.secunia.com to Trusted Sites list. PSI was not previously running, started it after addition to list. PSI appeared to do a scan but did not load interface, hung on the second screen (...This is expected to take less than 10 seconds.). Did "Reload Interface" and PSI started! It reported than scan was completed 2 minuets ago, so the first time it scaned but failed to load. Repeated "Exit" then restart PSI from All Programs list three times, waited several minuets before each retry. Couldn't get PSI to load again. Any ideas?

Thanks for you time;

Fred

p.s. After posting, rebooted and set firewall to "Allow All Traffic". Tested PSI by "Reload Interface" & "Exit" and restart program. Did each twice. Failed to load all times.

Hi Ken;

Did you follow my short list or WR's instructions (the third post)? WR's input is much more thorough.

If you have a working internet connection and that dosn't help, you might try asking Secunia directly. Click on Contact at the bottom of this page, then click on support@secunia.com under E-mail Addresses.

Hi everyone
@Ken-if you followed my instructions posted in this
thread on 9JAN2010 17:14 some additional steps may be necessary

1. Make sure your firewall is set to allow inbound & outbound Secunia PSI
traffic

2. Make sure no browser addons such as NoScript,etc. are blocking traffic

3. Your clock setting is correct-date, time, etc.

4. If you have upgraded to Win7 rather than a clean install you will have problems. The file path(s) in the windows.old folder are to long for Windows to 'read'. Rename windows.old to WinOld. Here's a link to this same problem with 3 or more posts by a Secunia official http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/299...

I suggest reading through the entire thread.

Hope this helps.

Regards, wr
