Secunia made me realize that even thought I installed Java 6 just after system installation and keep it updated (till 18th version at the moment) my Java folder still contains JRE 1.5.0 (folder name jre1.5.0).

Is it necessary to keep both those versions? I would like to get rid of 5th version and stick to 6th only but I am not sure if it would be OK.

Your help is appreciated.

Yes, it is safe and recommended to remove older versions of Java. They should be in Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs|Programs and Features depending on which version of Windows you are running.

You could also have a look at JavaRa http://raproducts.org/ .
