I started having issues since I installed Secunia PSI. I mean, it's better not to have it, unless a new update will come up to fix these terrible issues with it!
1) After i scanned, Adobe Flash Player 10 (ActiveX) is not recognized by PSI that it's been updated, eventhough it has (in the control panel says that)
2) Google Chrome is insecure ( v. 4 the latest one out)
3) IE 8 is insecure for browsing (I this has been an issue for a while)

I mean, I had Acrobat reader installed for a while, and today, it's telling me that it's insecure (no new updates are out for 9.0)
Google Chrome 4 worked well, and now it's telling me otherwise
Flash player (active x)... who knows what's next?

I hope a new version of the PSI comes up to resolve its issues in the near future.

Thank you

Hi wess12

PSI is doing well ;)
but not the editors...

1) Flash: check your system32\macromed\flash (or syswow64)
you will see (at the time I wrote) a flash10e.ocx and its flashutil10e.exe, the latest updated version... AND THE JUST REPLACED VERSION flash10d.ocx (and util) that the updating process doesn't DELETE AT ALL !!!
so for PSI, you have still an older vulnerable Flash ocx in the folder, even if normally it's not used anymore by your browser.
Personaly, I delete manually the older version.

2) Google Chrome: same player shoot again ;)
after an update, you have in your Chrome directory a subdir for the latest version AND THE JUST REPLACED VERSION is still here in another folder.
for example:
C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxxx\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application
I had 4.0.249.89 and the previous 4.0.xxx: I manually delete the older version if the new version works well :)

3) no clue

Hope I have answered well

Oliver

EDIT: I just discover that these answers (more and less detailed) have already been given in other threads... so a little search will do the trick ;)
As I'm new in this forum, sticky post will be a very useful help about such frequent questions !

@wess12

Your 1) if Oliver's info is not enough , read this :-

http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/313...

Your 3) M$ have no intention of fixing it in the forseeable , you have to live with or use something else.

Adobe Reader as just gone to 9.3.1. Open your Reader -> "help" menu" -> "check for updates" and follow the instructions .

Post back if you need more help from us .

Anthony

PS : PSI is advising you , you then decide your own course of action . Using PSI in "advanced" mode would help you .

Hello Oliver ,

Stickies have been discussed but they would have to have Secunia approval and they cannot vouch for volunteers ; they also have other priorities and methods are always having to be updated - no one knows enough /everything , that's why we are here .

We try to help the newcomers to PSI who have no idea what , where and how to find things.

All help needed :))

Take care
Anthony
