Hi,

Ive got a question concerning the patch creation.
Ive got an old Version of Java 6.0.160 on a machine and CSI advises me to build a patch for 6.0.170 but the latest version on the java homepage is 6.0.180.

Can you explain why Im not advised to use the latest version?

Kind regards

Thomas

Hello Thomas

Both of the Java updates U17 and U18 are "secure" in Secunia terms and (perhaps) both should work ; obviously U18 is the latest version . According to Java you can have more than one version loaded ; best not to keep the insecure ones unless heavily obliged to so do by the programme supplier .

Hope that helps.
Anthony

Hello Anthony,

thank you for your explanation.
That helped me understand a little bit more of this Beta Software.

In my opinion the CSI Patch Management should be able not only to create a patch for a "secure" version of the program but also to create a patch for the latest version or always use the latest version of a program.

What do the rest of the Users / Beta Testers think?

Regards

Thomas
