Forum Thread: Secunia won't recover my profile

I had to re-install Secunia, along with everything else, a couple of weeks ago when I moved from W7RC64 to the full retail version.


Since then, Secunia won't recover my profile but always shows me as "Unregistered user". I have followed the recovery procedure multiple times and the laptop has been rebooted, powered down, etc many times over the past couple of weeks, but still Secunia won't recover the profile.


HP 6735s laptop running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

Hi,

Please go to the "Secunia Profile" tab. Here, you should enter your username and email address in the appropriate fields under the "Recover existing registration" box. You should then receive a confirmation email, and following the instructions in this email should register your laptop to the user in question.

As I said in my original message "I have followed the recovery procedure multiple times".

It doesn't work.

I get the email. I click on the link. I get the screen telling me that my profile is validated.

I restart Secunia. Or I shut down and reboot the PC. Or any other relevant actions.

But Secunia still shows me as "Unregistered User"

This isn't about the forum. This is about the Secunia Profile information shown in the Secunia Personal Software Inspector itself.

I have had exactly the same thing happen to me. I had to reinstall Windows 7 Pro (32-bit) on my DELL Vostro 1520. After the (clean) reinstall, I reinstalled the Secunia PSI. I have gone through the Profile Recovery procedure at least three times - including clicking on the confirmation link in the received email and being taken to a Secunia page that claims that my profile has been verified/confirmed - without my actual profile information ever showing up in the PSI. This despite numerous restarts of the PSI.

Hi guys,

This doesn`t solve your problem, and is just an observation.

Over the last month or so, there have been a few reported issues of different aspects of PSI not functioning correctly for different users, as reported here on the forum.

i.e.:- not connecting, not loading, scans hanging or looping, profile info being lost, plus different variations of these.

In a lot (but maybe not all) instances, unfortunately, the common denominator appears to be W7.

Is it possible that there could be a software conflict between PSI and W7, that is yet to be resolved?

We will see what advice Secunia Official can offer to you both and anyone else with similar issues.

If this problem occurs for you, please email us your username or email address (These, of course, *have* to be the ones you use in the PSI) at support@secunia.com

I suggest you do *not* post any of that information here, as posting your email makes it easier on spambots.

Yes, that has fixed the problem for me - I had to go through the request procedure again, but this time it worked.
