Can anyone else help me. This error started about a month ago. Error reads like this:

Unable to locate an appropriate web browser for the requested URL I Clicked OK

Then this window pops up " an error occcured while atempting to open the specified URL" clicked OK

Last edited on 15th Mar, 2010 14:55 Hi,

The PSI will attempt to launch the default browser of the administrative user. Please log in as administrator, and set the browser you want to use to your default browser. Most browsers allow you to do this from within the application, and most check, when run, if they're the default.

Here are instructions for,
firefox: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+make+Fi...
IE: http://www.winxptutor.com/iedefault.htm
Opera: http://my.opera.com/Tamil/blog/set-opera-as-defaul...
Chrome: http://www.google.com/support/chrome/bin/answer.py...

Hope this helps.

PS: I have noticed the broken link, and have reported the problem to our developers.

Hi Cheryl

Can you provide a little more information, along the following lines:

1) To which thread are you referring? Can you find it again, hover the cursor over it (little hand) and right click the mouse - then choose "copy link location". This you can then paste onto your next reply - so I and others can refer back, to see what`s written.

2) What are you doing immediately before you get this error message?; and from what screen / program?

3) Which browsers do you use? - primary, + any others installed.

4) And importantly; what computer and operating software (Windows version) do you have?

If I can`t help myself, then someone else may be able to, with the above information.

TiMow

EDIT: My reply was written before I saw the Secunia Official reply. Their information may be more pertinent.

Hi, again Cheryl

I`ve had a quick search thru` some of the previous threads relating to your problem.

One of these 2 e.g.`s may be what you`ve already checked out.

1) See the last reply from Maurice Joyce on the following (if that doesn`t do it, then you have a problem):

http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/265...

2) gregdavid has a slightly different take on things (see his last post on the following, if things don`t work out):

http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/948...

Finally, try checking out #29 in the FAQ:

http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal...

Have fun,

TiMow

Thanks for the help. I found help in going into control panel Setting default programs and access and changed my default Broser and now the forum link works, I'll have to wait and see when something comes up that needs patching if the download solution button will work. This is where I would get the same error before.
