It is now almost six months since I first suggested the above prog. for monitoring; and subsequently first queried it's non inclusion in a thread entitled :-
"Non appearance after suggestion" to which M. Hansen....Secunia replied : very adequately , at that time. As it was a very new program, I decided to leave the matter....not sure that I'd be keeping it, and would see how it behaved/performed.
All this time it's been doing a wonderful job.
Both CCleaner and Revouninstaller together with Windows Uninstall/Change have picked it up/identify it but not Secunia still. I can't find any reference to it being a beta version. I've tried suggesting it again recently to no avail.
Any information please? Thanks.

Hi mogs

The suggestion from you was most likely empty due to lack of file information (We need for detection)

I've downloaded the Auslogics Disk Defrag ScreenSaver and there is only 1 file that contains "some" file information, which is the uninstaller.

This is not enough for us to be able to add it to our program database.

We will in most cases add software suggested to our database daily (not during weekends)

If you have suggested software that is not being detected, try mailing us at support@secunia.com.

It is possible Secunia cannot see it. This "programme" is a breakaway freebie from a much larger programme called Auslogics Bootspeed.

The file versions are:

Bootspeed 4.5.15.280

Reg Cleaner 1.5.12.165 (Does that match yours?)
Disk Defrag 2.1.2.50

All are captured by PSI under C:\Program Files\Bootspeed\xxxxxxx

Thankyou very much Maurice: I think I understand. Yes, the Reg. Cleaner version is 1.5.12.165 that I'm using. I'm also using Auslogics Registry Defrag version
5.5.20.25. Both those programs Secunia is already monitoring.
I'm just collecting as much info as I can regarding Screensaver Defrag and will post to Secunia support as M. Hansen suggests.
What you're saying then, is that the program is hidden in the Bootspeed files ? Have I got it right?

Some are separate as well . You will see that Disk Defrag is now at version 3.x :-

http://www.auslogics.com/en/software/

Some are free some are pay versions .

Hope this helps .

Anthony

PS: forgot to mention that you can set Disk Defrag version 3.x to "auto run" any time the system is idle which I would think was something similar to the "screensaver" version in question . It may also be a later/"improved" version in general .

Thanks Anthony.....good to hear from you......I was aware of the Disk Defrag prog.
It is a different program to the Registry Defrag prog which I'm using; version
5.5.20.25 And also different to the Screensaver Defrag version 1.1
Not to cause any confusion : the Registry Defrag is not the Registry Cleaner.
I'm using 3 Auslogics programs:-
Disk ScreenSaver Defrag
Registry Cleaner
Registry Defrag
Secunia isn' monitoring the Disk ScreenSaver Defrag.

I've just visited the Auslogics site to make sure I wasn't going daft ! Ha!

Hello Mogs ,

I use their (free) Registry Cleaner (seldom) and the Disk Defrag (regularly) ; I personally think that the latest version 3.x it is now "better" than "Defraggler" - both have their advantages . As you can set it to "auto run" , you may want to think about having a look at it as an alternative or replacement for the "screensaver :)

As of today , BoostSpeed seem to have a new/free version .

Take care
Anthony

PS : PSI is not covering the latest Disk Defrag on my machine .

I had been using the Disk Defrag prior to trying the Screensaver; which I've become very accustomed to running whenever idle. The fact that it runs almost every day seems to help keep the comp. at it's optimum. I think I may have another look at the Boostspeed program tho'.............thanks. The Registry Scanner/Cleaner I also use about 5/6 times a week but the Registry Defrag recommends using once a month......I seem to remember that few realize, apparently, that it defrags the RAM not the disc. Were you aware of it?

Just an update , Mogs , closer checking shows that the BoostSpeed is only a "free to try" version :((

I used to use their Registry Defrag when it was a free version ; nowadays I use either the TweakNow RegCleaner facility or that in a free copy I got of Registry First Aid (offered by Gizmo's site:))) .

I'm not so sure about that Anthony.....I think it might be that there is a free version and a free trial of the version to buy.
The reason I say that.....the Registry Defrag I obtained recently was free. I think it was a matter of "studying" the details, and downloading from the site.

@Mogs,
The screen saver element allegedly works when the screen saver is active!

My wife was a Bootspeed user hence I know a little of its background.

I try to stay clear of programme recommendations of any kind hence I will just say "Buyer Beware" with Auslogics programmes.

I am not sure it defrags the MFT or Paging files from a Boot Time Defrag (BTD)? You should know because to achieve it U must programme a CHKDSK prior to running it. Is that possible with your set up?

U certainly do not get that with any freebie I have tested & I am not sure Bootspeed is capable either. Worth checking.

Not exactly sure what Anthony means. All the freebies on offer by Auslogics are breakaway parts of Bootspeed. U get all them + a few more Whistles & Bells if U buy hence my advice to check they do upgrade the defrag element to include BTD.

Sorry strayed off the point a bit but would hate to see money wasted.

That's the case with the Screensaver Defrag.....it operates whenever the screen is idle ( acting just like any other); but only goes into defrag mode, if, at the same time, the preset time between scans has been reached. After scanning it reverts to a screensaver unless the touchpad is tapped: which can be done at any time, even during defrag mode.
As far as I can see...you are right....there is no requirement on my set up, to run CHKDSK prior to it's operation. Could you enlarge on your explanation as to the pitfalls of not having that facility please ? The advantage or necessity of a Boot Time Defrag ?
I understand what you mean re recommendations.....tho' I hope I only pass on my experience as it is rather than "push to try". Again tho', if you see me straying..please feel free to point it out (reiteration). Thankyou.
