General enquiry:

Here's the link to a BBC item today:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8634356.stm

Why have they spotlighted Firefox? Provided we are all sensible and keep our software/systems up-to-date, shouldn't we be OK?

@Taffy,
Not a problem. It mentions IE as well. It is a fairly well balanced article. Nothing really new - good protection & safe surfing & U are OK.

If U want added protection install Trusteer - many UK/US banks are protected by this small extra layer of personal banking security.

@taffy ,

There is a highly rated and widely recommended "anti-keylogger" called "KeyScrambler" which works on IE an Firefox and which you may wish to look into :-

Take care
Anthony

I've gone for Trusteer Rapport. Their website said it was free for users of certain banks, which are listed on their site:

http://www.trusteer.com/solutions/home-users/onlin...

It didn't show the cost to customers of other banks so I emailed them and within the hour they confirmed it is free to everybody.

Thanks yet again!

Correct - it is free to everyone but 2 UK banks (almost) insist U use it.

There is no conflict with NIS 2010 which does the keylogging job anyway.

Just check the caveats - U can use it for wider web protection but they prefer U to only protect any bank U use.

cheers Maurice. My bank (Halifax) and the bank that took it over (Lloyds) don't have it!

Taffy,
Perhaps never been submitted to Secunia - I have never bothered.

I assume U have set it up to protect your bank? Easy process once U have read options etc.

For the benefit of others, Maurice, Rapport looks so simple to use.

When you visit a site for the first time since installing it, a grey Rapport icon appears by the browser bar. Clicking on this will enable you to active RApport and the icon turns green.

Trusteer recommends activating it on all websites where you login or where you can read or send sensitive information. But I'm only going to use it for my on-line banking, as you suggest. A google search suggests that two years ago Rapport caused a few issues with gaming sites. Perhaps that's cleared up now but that's not an area I go to!
