I posted under "Security Threat: Zeus - updated virus" details of that virus. Unfortunately I've locked it hence this.

Maurice Joyce & Anthony Wells suggested some useful software to give another layer of protection. I've gone for Trusteer Rapport. Their website (link below) said it's provided by some banks already (check, per their list) and is free to other Home Users. Three comments:

(1) It's so simple to use. Trusteer recommends activating it on all websites where you login or where you can read or send sensitive information. But I'm only going to use it for my on-line banking, as Maurice suggests.

(2) My Norton IS2000 blocked it. I used their "One Click Support" for a 1-2-1 on-line chat with a teccie there. As a result, he says they will "enable" it so that NIS doesn't block it.
I'm not sure if this is a general change in NIS or just for me so if you instal Rapport and have similar problems with Norton, quote tecnical query reference 499171171 to them.

(3) In case others here instal it and have problems, can Secunia add it to their list of programs, please. It doesn't show up on the Secunia list. (Or is there another way I should suggest this?)
Thanks

Hi,

If you have the software installed, you just need to suggest it. Please go to the Insecure tab, scroll to the bottom, and select "Software missing? Suggest it here!" then select a main executable belonging to this software. We will then process your suggestion.

hope this helps.

Taffy,
Another I would suggest should be in Open Discussion. This has nothing to do with PSI so I will again be short & sharp.

As my original post suggests there are no conflicts with NIS 2010. Rapport is set up automatically by Norton.

U have either been tinkering with Norton settings or it is one of your many other security devices falling out with each other.

If U look in the Norton programme settings U will see the 2 Rapport services allowed under auto.

Have U suggested it to Secunia or do U want me to do it?

I've suggested it to Secunia to add it, Maurice.

I've never changed the Norton settings, and I've looked everywhere there to find the Rapport iems but I can't any such list. I've looked in Computer, Network and Web settings and other parts such as "Insight protection details" but nothing!

Sorry to be a pain, yet again, but where will I find the 'auto' list/settings?

Emil - can you move this to Open Discussions please?

Best if I sent U some pretty pictures of my Norton settings.

If U want to pursue that line my email address is:

Hi,

Taffy, I got your suggestion, but I'm afraid I'll have to ask you to redo it. The suggestion we received was for a "StartRapport.ico" file, which contains no version info. We need you to suggest a .exe or .dll file belonging to this program before we can add it.

hope this helps.

@Taffy
Whoops! Not sure U now have access to remove your address. Perhaps Emil will be kind & can do it for U.

Much better if U had contacted me direct using my email address which is protected.

I will submit the Rapport file to Emil. U sent him an ICON - are U telling us something or is this an attempt to boost your score!!!

Be back tonight.

I am an icon, Maurice - a legend in my lunchtime! Thanks for sorting it all out. Sorry, Emil!
Later, it will interesting to see if Norton had 'enabled' this as they said they would.s

Hi,

I actually don't have access to any tools to delete or edit user's posts. If there is a problem (such as obvious robot spam) I have to escalate it internally to remove it.

@Taffy
I added trusteer rapport 3.x to our DB. Does it show up in a rescan?

Hi Maurice,
The file you got was (unfortunately) a bad suggestion. We need a file that has version information. Doesn't the detection rule I added before pick up the program?

Hi,

If you try a full rescan, it should hopefully be detected.

Emil,
Still not showing after reboot & full scan - I will suggest another file.

Edit:
Have sent 2 - both are the .exe that Norton allows so should be one of them!

FYI I have used this for years requires no configuration works with Firefox and IE8 unaware of other browsers and to date worked with AVG anti virus and Avast. Very simple to use and works Automatically with passwords including log on. Free for personal use. Maybe,Maurice Joyce can give a quick assessment. Unaware of any cliche between U.S and Europe Here you go:
