I finished my scan and ended up having to update a few programs. I click the button for solution but I get this message, "Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded." What settings is it talking about? I am running avg internet security 9. The three problem software are foxit reader 3.x, apple itunes 9.x, and quicktime 9.x. I know I have posted this question before, but being the new guy to the forum I selected the wrong button to reply correctly. OS is win 7.

You might have to wait for Secunia staff to come in on Monday for an answer.

If you want to fix it in the meantime go to the Foxit and Apple sites and try to update from there.

I forgot to mention that. I have gone to both websites and installed the most current versions. I still get the threat alerts.

Sometimes it's necessary to reboot and do a full scan again to pick up changes.

If that doesn't work you can switch to advanced mode (top right corner). The installation path will show you where the file is that PSI is using to identify the version. This wll give you a clue as to why you are not seeing the version you expect.

You said in your last response that you have visit both websites and installed the most current versions.
So you can download “Revo Uninstaller” to remove any remnants left from these programs.Go to:
http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_fr...
When you open the program and select the offending ones a new screen pop’s-up To select an uninstall mode, choose the advanced and follow the programs suggesting.
After the uninstall, re install the programs you downloaded before, and make a full PSI scan .

Wish you luck.

Hi py126 & welcome to the Forum

Let's start with the simple steps to make sure your IE settings
are correct. These steps are straight from the PSI FAQ to ensure connectivity
to Secunias servers. Secunia uses IE exclusively as it's embedded in MS
OS so you can use any browser as default but only IE is used whether
default or not.

These settings shouldn't effect your browsing so long as good, safe browsing
tactics are used. At any rate these settings must be exactly as
shown for the PSI to function properly.

1.Secunia PSI needs to be able to connect to Secunia servers to complete its scanning. However, if you have not configured
the security settings of Internet Explorer, the Secunia PSI may be prevented from getting the scan results. To receive
your scan results, you need to do some changes to your Internet options.
To do this:
a. Open Internet Explorer.
b. Go to Tools>Internet Options>Security tab.
c. Select the Internet zone and click on the Custom Level button.
d. In Security Settings, go to the Scripting>Active Scripting option.
e. Make sure that Active Scripting is Enabled (rather than Disabled or Prompted).
f. Press OK then Yes.
g. Back in the Security tab, select the Trusted sites zone and click on the Sites button.
h. Look at the bottom of the page and take the tick from the box marked"Require server verification(HTTPS)for all site zones" then type in the following and press the Add button to add them to the Trusted Zone Sites list:
http://*.secunia.com
https://*.secunia.com
i. Press Close
j. Run the Secunia PSI again to view the scan results
Make sure you read and follow all instructions in (h) many people do not take the tick from the box indicated and therefore cannot add the http: address & then come back to the Forum complaining they can't add the http: address.

One other thing I might add is to make sure your firewall
allows Secunia [b]OUTBOUND[/] as well as [b]INBOUND

Hope this helps & please do let us know how you get on.

Regards, wr
