I installed PSI this morning and all I see is an empty screen with the scanning/working barber pole and no links to anything. Have I installed wrongly?

That is psi trying to connect to the internet and Secunia database.

Cannot be sure if psi is installed properly but it may be an idea to try to reinstall perhaps after uninstalling the program first. It should connr=ect with a decent broadband connection within about 10/20 seconds, I think officially it should be 10 seconds.

Come back to the forum if you have a problem after reinstalling.

Hi tathraman

You probably need to reset some of the security settings in IE - even if you don't use it as default, PSI does.

Click on the following link from Secunia's FAQ:

Hope this helps

Hi TiMow,

I have been trying to use PSI. I've been able to install it but it does not work. The directions you give for using Internet Explorer to access the PSI website do not work on my system. I have disabled both my firewall and antivirus programs so I am not sure what the problem is.

When I try running the program this is the error message I received: unable to retrieve PSI ID from Secunia

I've reset the IE settings but it's made no difference. I have installed PSI on my other computer, which has XP2, using Mozilla, and it runs fine.

Vista Home Premium
Firefox 3.6.3
AVG free
ZA free.

Hi tathraman and Bismarck_Bob

Often resetting the security settings in IE resolves this problem, but in both your cases, there are obviously other issues to be considered.

Hopefully Secunia Official will pick this up and be able to offer additional guidance.

Hope things work out
