I have the same problem as the user "Kwant": The Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0.exe is determined as unsecure. I loaded and installed the patch 7.0.3. from the Adobe website, it was installed sucessfully but PSI doesn't recognize the programm as patched!

Please tell me what to do!

Thanks, Runkelrube

I'm also having this problem. However, when I try to apply the 7.0.3 patch, I receive the message that the program is up to date. When I check for updates in Photoshop Elements, I'm told that there are no updates. Yet, PSI continue to indicate that it is insecure. I'm running Photoshop Elements on a Windows 7, 64 bit system.

Hi,

It's possible to tell which version a file is, by hovering the mouse over it and reading the "version" field.

Please tell me the versions of files "ems.dll" and "Photoshop Elements 7.0.exe", both part of the same program.

Here are the version numbers :

PhotoshopElements7.0.exe Version 7.0.0.0.
ems.dll : This file doesn't show me any version. But its date of creation is 2008-09-16

Looking at the version/date it seems that the programm is not patched. But if I run the patcher downloadable from the Adobe site it tells me the programm is uptodate. The same happens when I try to update out of the running programm.

Thanks, Runkelruebe

Hi,

Does a rescan now show the correct versions?

You mean, after running the patcher.exe from the Adobe Homepage?! No, I tried several times, but the version remain the same, old ones!

Hi,

Please follow this exact procedure.

1) Click the "Solution" button in the PSI
2) Install the patch offered
3) Do a complete rescan

Does this resolve the problem?

Just one point- Did you remove the older versions before installing the update?

Hi,

It might be worth trying to remove the program before updating, though this happens at your own risk.

Please try rebooting and scanning again. Has this solved the problem? If not, could I ask you to look in the Photoshop Elements folder, hover your mouse over the files (which shows the version number, along with some other info), and try "suggesting" a file that has the proper version info?
Thank you in advance.

I am having exactly the same problems. Until the last scan everything was secure, now I have 13 insecure programs, but unable to download patch for any of them. I have automatic updates for all Microsoft progs. 8 of the insecurities are for Windows Mail, every time I go to the Microsoft Page, it tells me there is aproblem with communicating to my PC. Another is shown as Vista Service Pack 2, which I downloaded 1 year ago. Have Secunia got a problem ? Help !

@awayday,
I think your problem is slightly different to this thread which is dealing with Adobe Photoshop Elements.

This thread might be a better choice:
http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/422...

Better still create your own thread & get bespoke service for your issue.

Hope this helps.

The Scan just finished: Still the Photoshop Elements 7.0.exe is recognized as unsafe and the offered solution is the 7.0.3. patch that we installed several times before.

I'm sorry that I don't have better news!

Hi,

Please tell me, exactly which version does the PSI show?
If you mouseover a file, the popup that appears shows the version number.
Are there any files in the folder that have 9.03 as the version? If there are, please suggest this file. Otherwise, report back in this thread.
Thanks.

The Photoshop Elements 7.0.exe has still the version 7.0.0.0.

No file in the folder has the version 9.03

Sorry about the duplicate posts, don't know how this happened, as I only clicked 'reply' once. There were actually 3 the same, but I managed to edit this one!

My problem may not be relevant to this thread, but seeing your post, I decided to Scan again. The Scan finished and 'No threat' found' message came up (or similar). However when I try to open Secunia, I get a box stating that "Secunia is unable to connect to the internet. If your connection is working OK. it may be that a personal firewall is blocking Secunia'. So I switched off Windows Defender (the only firewall in operation), but I still get the box and Try again by clicking here produces no result. EDIT: After I rebooted I was then able to open Secunia and guess what, my browser is Insecure (Windows Internet Explorer 8) and the Java program also. Nothing I can do about IE but decided to uninstall Java and download the latest version. did that and then Sun Microsystems tell me that this is not the correct version and the one I require is Version 1.6.0.-oem. So downloaded that after uninstalling Update 20 version and Secunia tells me it is insecure. What to do next? Also downloaded Patch for EBay picture Security and this is still showing as insecure after re-booting. PSI version 1.5.0.1 . I think I will give up!

Hello,
I ran the Adobe 7.0.3 patch and it did change the ems.dll and the sync file to version 7.0.3 but it left the exe. files at 7.0.0 . The patch seems to have no effect to the Photoshop exe. file version. Hope this helps.

Hi,

Could you please suggest this file, marking it "Attn: Emil"? With the information from that file, I can correct the rule.

Hello,
Don't want to intrude....but Emil is probably out of the office at the present time.
If you go to the bottom of the Patched tab page in psi; you'll see " Prog. missing ? Suggest it here. " Click on that and a panel will appear that you can enter the file info in. I think you'll have to put "ATT. EMIL", in one of the other fields/boxes.
Hope this helps. Regards,

Hi,

I recieved your suggestions, and with the information, I corrected the rule. If you do a total rescan, you should hopefully be shown correctly as 7.0.3.0 (Which is the Secure version).

Hope this helps.

Indeed, it seems to work: Just did a full scan and now Adobe Photoshop 7.0 does not appear anymore on the list of the programms that need to be updated.

Thank you,
Runkelruebe
