When I logged on today recieved a message that new updates were available. When I tried to ope them received a message saying an error occurred when trying to open specified URL. Then the updates vanished. Also I cannot access forum from my desktop. I get the same error message. I had to go out to the internet and access forum from there. Can anyone help?

Hi wwavla & welcome to the Forum

You may want to check your security settings for IE.
These must be exactly as shown for the PSI to
connect properly. The following is from the PSI FAQ:

1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Go to Tools>Internet Options>Security tab.
3. Select the Internet zone and click on the Custom Level button.
4. In Security Settings, go to the Scripting>Active Scripting option.
5. Make sure that Active Scripting is Enabled (rather than Disabled or Prompted).
6. Press OK then Yes.
7. Back in the Security tab, select the Trusted sites zone and click on the Sites button.
8. Look at the bottom of this window, and uncheck the field labeled "Require Server Verification (https) for all site zones".
9. Type in the following and press the Add button to add them to the Trusted Sites list:
http://*.secunia.com
https://*.secunia.com
10. Press Close, then OK.

Hope this helps.

Regards, wr

OK. Thanks I followed your instructions and do no know if the update problem was solved or not. But I still cannot access Forum from the desktop. I get the same error message that I was receiving before.

Followed the instructions given but still getting same error message when I try to login from desktop. Do not know if it solved the update problem or not. Guess I will have to wait to see. But thanks anyway.

Hi wwavla

Did you restart your computer after making the changes?
Remember-this is Windoze OS & most times you have to
reboot for the changes to take place. What updates
are you talking about? Windoze updates, the PSI v. update,
program updates(patchs)? If you want to update the PSI
to its latest v. it's here: http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal

There are several other things that could be blocking
access-firewall, add-ons, default browser not configured, etc.
I would try the reboot first & it may take more than 1
for the changes to take effect.

Hope this helps.
