When I scan my PC, I keep getting 2 security threats: both are-Sun Java JRE 1.6.x/6.x .

When I try to download the solutions, my computer says that I already have the software installed and asks if I want to reinstall it. I go ahead and reinstall it but when I rescan my PC I get the same 2 security threats. What am I doing wrong?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There is a post by Maurice Joyce which you should find particularly helpful.
As well as detecting the updated versions, PSI continues to find the older files, even if still in the Recycle bin. You need to clear them all out...see Removing Java dross mentioned in that post. Hope this helps...regards

Sorry, that didn't help. Does the fact that I am using Firefox be related to this problem?

Where is PSI finding the vulnerability?

FINDING A VULNERABILITY FILE PATH
=================================

To locate the exact file that the Secunia PSI has detected, use or switch to the ADVANCED interface, then :

1 Click on the + sign of the programme to "expand' it.
2 Click on Technical Details in the Toolbox to see the installation path of the detected file. (Copy (CTRL+C) & paste (CTRL+V) the Installation Path of the file back to the Forum if U are unsure what to do next.

Are you using PSI with the Advanced interface ? If not, switch to it to gain access to more info.
If you then click on the + sign alongside an entry/insecurity, it will expand to reveal the file path...that can be confirmed by clicking on Tech Details.
Post that info, together with any other detail (OS etc..) back to the forum.

Have you familiarised yourself with Secunia FAQ's....adjusted settings within your version of IE ? Set your default browser; which can be another, other than Secunia requires ? Some suggestions...hope they help.

EDIT.....typing whilst you posted Maurice.
