Google Chrome 5.0.375.55 is shown to still be insecure after applying Secunia PSI's fix.

Why is this?

I am using Microsoft XP SP3 Home with all updates current, on Dell Inspiron 530.

Hello.
In Google Chrome Releases the last Stable Update appears to be 5.375.70. from the 8th June. If you've updated to that version; it would seem that Secunia is detecting the older file.
Sometime I've had an instance of Chrome removing, but it's some time later.
Normally, you need to manually remove.
If you find the Chrome file ( having already updated): delete the older of the versions shown in same; make sure it's not still in the Recycle bin, and psi should cease to detect it. Hope this helps. Regards

The solution by mogs worked, sort of.

My version existing after the first re-installation, according to the "about" window, was "5.0.375.70 unknown" and "up to date". After I uninstalled it with Revo Uninstaller, reinstalled it, and scanned again with Secunia PSI, the "about" window said "5.0.375.70" without "unknown".

Weirdly, Secunia shows another anomaly: Secunia PSI's Overview tab showed "4 browsers are insecure", while the Insecure tab said "Congratulations. No programs are marked as being 'insecure' on your computer".

Hello again NBNorth.
I'd never had any need before to uninstall Chrome with Revo....just Spanner/About, and updated itself as and when....and then found/deleted the older file. The Dev version works in pretty much the same way, but more frequent updates.
I reported a minor bug/discrepancy, just the other day, about the info in the psi Overview....in my case..I've got two browsers....IE has a long-standing insecurity, and is shown in the Secure Browsing tab: Dev Chrome like the Beta version, is not monitored by Secunia.....but in the Overveiw I'm showing nil browsers as insecure.
How many browsers are you actually using/have installed ? At least Chrome Stable fully patched, and IE8 (?) should show in the Secure Browsing tab.....or are you saying that the "4" in the Overveiw is an anomolous figure ? Regards

"4" is correct. I have IE8, Firefox, Opera, Chrome. I use Firefox most of the time, and experiment with the others.

IE8 was not shown by Secunia PSI to be insecure on the "insecure" tab.

How many browsers are showing in the Secure Browsing tab ? All four ? At least Chrome is fully patched...........and Opera/FF ? If that is so, the figure in the Overveiw should be reading 1 insecure browser.....IE8...in your case.
I've just checked mine again.....the anomaly persists.

That's right..........IE8 does'nt show in the Insecure prog tab....as it is fully patched, you cannot do any more....it's shown as Secure for browsing, tho' with one insecurity...in the Secure Browsing tab.
