Hi

Today Secunia has updated the rules for Adobe Reader 8.x and 9.x and we would like some feedback on the Auto-Update of these two programs.
Please note that the Auto-Update feature is currently only available in the PSI Technology Preview

Thank you for trying out the new PSI Technology Preview in order to make the PSI even better!

Happy patching!

Hi Morten ,

OSI email update advised me first , so manually selected/ran a full scan in PSI in order to set up the Adobe Reader 9.x "insecurity" which also showed in "secure browsing" as Ff and IE were bordered in red .

Closed browsers , etc. , but left my security suite and PrevX 3 running .

Adobe Reader had moved itself to the top of the list in the "auto-update" tab ; I "ticked/selected" the "auto -update" box and the download started and finished in less than two minutes , installation effected in about the same time (perhaps longer) and then the history record was updated and PSI reset all tabs to "normal" .

A desktop icon was installed (my normal inclusion) but I will need to check later if anything "extra" came along .

All in all , it all took the same time time as a manual download with much less fiddling and mouse clicking , etc : so it should really help the newcomer and the lazy (like me :o)))

Take care
Anthony

Hi Anthony

Thank you for the feedback, it is highly appreciated.

It's always nice to know that it works as intended (so far)

Please let us know if there is any issues with the Auto-Update feature.
(Please create a new thread if it's a different program)

Stay Secure!

Hi again Morten ,

After a swift check up , everything seems correctly installed and no "presents".

i had earlier (this month) applied one of the Adobe recommended workarounds of/by renaming the "authplay.dll" file ; a new "authplay.dll file corresponding to the latest Flash version numbering (10.1.53.64) was loaded but the renamed file (obviously) was not recognised and not deleted/overwritten . I have deleted the file manually with no apparent ill effects .

Take care
Anthony
