I have updated, uninstalled, reinstalled and updated this program several times and it still comes up as an insecure program (security threat). I have also removed all older versions of this program. The only Sun Java programs I have on my computer are Java 6 Update 7 and Java 6 Update 20. What do I do now? |

When I try to remove it I receive this error message: Error 1719. The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed contact your support personnel for assistance. I removed it from the Java file in the Program Files but it still shows up as a program when accessing add/remove programs. However, after a full scan with Secunia PSI, the Insecure Program (security threat) was no longer present. |

Oracle suggest you use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility if Java will not uninstall normally. http://www.java.com/en/download/help/uninstall_jav... -- This answer is provided “as-is.” You bear the risk of using it. |

Hi, I'm having the same problem with the Sun Java JRE 1.6.x/6.x. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, did the Control Panel thing (Add & Remove) and still can't the security threat off. Is there any other method to remove this problem. bom5jgr is my signin. |

@b0m5jgr Please be aware that U have tagged a request for help on a thread created by @mebpapa who now has the option to lock it to prevent further communication. If this action takes place U will need to create your own thread. For a starter, where does PSI find the vulnerability? FINDING A VULNERABILITY FILE PATH ================================= To locate the exact file that the Secunia PSI has detected, use or switch to the ADVANCED interface, then : 1 Click on the + sign of the programme to "expand' it. 2 Click on Technical Details in the Toolbox to see the installation path of the detected file. (Copy (CTRL+C) & paste (CTRL+V) the Installation Path of the file back to the Forum if U are unsure what to do next. Please note that Microsoft have removed the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from the Download Center. KB290301 now contains the following: This article previously contained a link to the Windows Installer Cleanup utility (MSICUU2.exe). If you were directed to this article to solve a problem installing a product other than Microsoft Office, please contact your software manufacturer for installation support on the product. While the Windows Installer Cleanup utility resolved some installation problems, it sometimes damaged other components installed on the computer. Because of this, the tool has been removed from the Microsoft Download Center. Can anyone suggest another program to replace it? -- This answer is provided “as-is.” You bear the risk of using it. |
