This program has been useful when there have been problems uninstalling a program, but Microsoft have now removed it from the Download Center.
KB290301 now reads:

This article previously contained a link to the Windows Installer Cleanup utility (MSICUU2.exe). If you were directed to this article to solve a problem installing a product other than Microsoft Office, please contact your software manufacturer for installation support on the product.

While the Windows Installer Cleanup utility resolved some installation problems, it sometimes damaged other components installed on the computer. Because of this, the tool has been removed from the Microsoft Download Center.

Does anyone know of a program to replace it?

Thanks,

Will the free version of Revo Uninstaller handle the case when the uninstall function in Programs and Features fails?

I use the free version for some time now and as far I observed it works OK.
Using the 'expert' mode leads you through the process beginning with using
the standard uninstaller for the product you want to uninstall and then searches for register content etc. For every step it shows what you are going
to delete and tells you when there is directory content which cannot deleted
immediately but after reboot.

@Maurice Joyce ,

Fortunately , I have not had an "uninstall" problem for some time (drosses fingers and :))) , but I still have the programme installed and would most certainly welcome your expertise concerning it's continued use and what , if anything , can replace it .

Thank you
Anthony

@Leenderp Kip

Thanks for the additional information

@Maurice Joyce

Thanks, I've still got it installed. I'd only consider using it if I couldn't get a program to install because a previous version wouldn't uninstall.

There seem to be a handful of free uninstallers about on download sites; I'll experiment with those if the need arises.

Don't give youself even more work.
