Secunia PSI reports MSACCESS as Insecure. When I press Download Solution it goes to the MS Update and Windows Update in Control Panel tells me there are no updates available. This is on a rescan after a clean reboot.

Can you please explain why?

If I use PSI and press the icon for Technical Details, it gives me this data:
Version Detected: 11.0.8221.0

Installation Path: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\MSACCESS.EXE

Last Inspection of Program: 2nd Aug. 2010, 12:43 CET

However, when I open that folder, Explorer tells me that the version of MSACCESS.EXE is 11.0.8321.

Is it possible PSI is getting the version wrong, hence thinking it's not up to date when it actually is?

Running Windows 7 Build 7600.

Thanks

Hi,

Updates for Microsoft Products (including MS Access) usually require a reboot before "kicking in".

Therefore, please remember to reboot, recheck Microsoft Update (for any patches that may have been left out in the previous round), then rescan. The PSI should show you as secure.

hope this helps.

Done all that beforehand but, just to be sure, did it again, viz:
- rebooted then
- checked Windows Update to see if there were any o/s updates (including checking for any hidden) - there were none for Access or Office, etc - then
- rescanned

PSI still says it's insecure and the Version Detected is 11.0.8221.0 while Explorer clearly says MSACCESS.EXE is 11.0.8321 (i.e. there is a disagreement over what version is in the folder - and yes, it is the same folder because I used PSI to open it in Explorer.)

Control Panel shows patch for KB981716 (as referred to by PSI and the Advisory Notice for Access 2003) was applied 16 July 2010 - and my machine is rebooted every day as I close down totally each night.

NB - it is Access 2003 that I have.

Hi,

Could you please create a software suggestion for MSACCESS.EXE, and mark it as "Access 2003 Attn: EP"?

Suggested as requested - assuming you meant a suggestion from Secunia PSI.

That's now fine - PSI detects MS Access 2003 v11.0.8321.0 and says it's patched OK.

Cheers

Secunia tells me to install Vista SP 2 which I already have on my PC. What to do?
