After applying the proposed solution and rescanning the system, Pidgin is still seen bij Secunia PSI as a security threat.
Version is now Pidgin 2.7.1.
How to go on from here?

Are you using psi.....and with the Advanced interface ? If not, you'll gain more info if you switch. See top right of psi panel.
Generally, when you update a prog, old files/versions get left behind, and Secunia continues to detect them....even if still in the Recycle bin. If you click on the plus sign to an entry/insecurity/vulnerability, it will expand to reveal the file path...another click on Tech Details in the tool box will confirm it. If unsure how to proceed, post the info back to the forum with details of your OS; and any other info you think might be useful.
